Tesla Expands Service and Charging Network Across India
Tesla has announced a major expansion of its service and charging ecosystem in India alongside the launch of its new six-seater Model Y L. The electric vehicle maker is strengthening its footprint beyond initial metro markets, aiming to support growing customer demand and improve accessibility across multiple states.
Priced at Rs 61.99 lakh, the Model Y L becomes the latest addition to Tesla’s India lineup, marking a new phase in the company’s premium EV strategy for the country.
Expanded Service and Bodyshop Network Across Key Cities
Tesla is set to significantly scale its service and bodyshop infrastructure in India over the coming quarter. The company plans to expand operations into Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Ahmedabad, aiming to improve after-sales support as deliveries increase across new regions.
Currently, Tesla operates experience centres in Mumbai, Delhi, and Gurgaon, along with service and delivery hubs in Delhi and Gurgaon. A recent addition in Pune has further strengthened its early network footprint.
Remote Support and Digital Service Approach
Tesla’s service model in India also relies heavily on remote diagnostics and software-based fixes. Many vehicle issues can be resolved without requiring customers to visit physical service centres, reducing downtime and improving convenience.
Customer-Centric Ownership Experience
The company aims to extend a “peace of mind” ownership experience by combining physical service expansion with digital support systems, ensuring wider coverage across emerging customer bases.
Charging Infrastructure Expansion Across Cities and Highways
Tesla is also accelerating the development of its charging ecosystem in India, which remains a core pillar of its EV strategy. The company has already enabled five Supercharger stations across the country, strategically placed based on customer travel and lifestyle patterns.
A key milestone includes the launch of a Supercharger station at Nexus Seawoods in Navi Mumbai, which is Tesla’s first charging facility located inside a shopping mall in India. This site offers up to 250 kW charging capability, enabling faster turnaround times for EV users.
Supercharger Network Growth Strategy
Tesla plans to connect major cities including Delhi, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai through an integrated charging corridor network.
Destination and Highway Charging Expansion
The company is also focusing on building destination chargers across urban hubs and expanding Supercharger stations along key highways to support long-distance travel.
Home Charging Infrastructure Support
Tesla is extending home charging installation support across 28 states, enabling customers to set up private charging systems regardless of location.
Direct-to-Consumer Model and India Delivery Strategy
Tesla continues to operate under a direct-to-consumer sales model in India, avoiding traditional dealership networks. Customers can place orders online and receive doorstep delivery, simplifying the purchase process and removing intermediaries.
Since starting deliveries in September 2025, Tesla has already expanded its reach to 21 states in India. The company plans to extend deliveries further as its service and charging infrastructure scales across additional regions.

Customers can configure and purchase vehicles entirely online, reflecting Tesla’s global retail approach focused on digital convenience.

Model Y L Strengthens Premium SUV Positioning
The newly launched Model Y L is a six-seater, long-wheelbase variant of Tesla’s global SUV platform. It features a 2+2+2 seating configuration and offers a claimed WLTP range of up to 681 km.
Compared to the standard Model Y, the new variant is larger, providing more cabin space and enhanced comfort, making it suitable for premium SUV buyers in India.
Design and Space Upgrade
The Model Y L is approximately 180 mm longer and 44 mm taller than the standard version, improving interior comfort and seating flexibility.
Premium EV Market Positioning
Due to high import duties reaching up to 100 percent, Tesla continues to operate in the luxury EV segment in India, keeping its volumes niche for now.

Tesla’s India strategy is gradually evolving beyond passenger vehicles. The company is also preparing to enter the industrial energy storage segment, marking its first major diversification beyond EVs in the country.
