Tata Motors Begins Prima E.55S EV Truck Deliveries
India’s electric freight transition gains momentum as it rolls out the first batch of its Prima E.55S electric trucks too . The move marks a significant push toward scaling zero emission freight transport across long haul logistics routes in the country.
The delivery is part of a larger order that includes 250 electric prime movers, with phased deployment planned across key industrial corridors.
Tata Motors accelerates zero emission freight transport rollout
The first batch of Prima E.55S trucks has been handed over, initiating a large scale deployment plan. These electric trucks will operate across major freight corridors in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Delhi NCR, and Haryana, supporting the movement of industrial goods such as steel and cement.
This partnership highlights the growing demand for zero emission freight transport in India. BillionE Mobility is targeting the deployment of up to 1,500 heavy duty electric trucks over the next 6 to 18 months, signalling rapid expansion in electric logistics infrastructure.
Senior leadership teams from both companies were present during the handover, underlining the importance of this collaboration in driving clean mobility solutions.
Prima E.55S technology supports long haul operations
The Tata Prima E.55S electric truck is built for real world logistics performance. Developed on Tata Motors’ i MoEV platform, it features a full electric drivetrain, integrated e axle, and regenerative braking.
It is powered by a 450 kWh battery pack, delivering a range of up to 350 km on a single charge, making it suitable for long distance zero emission freight transport.
The truck includes a 3 speed auto shift transmission, dual gun fast charging, and safety features such as driver monitoring system, lane departure warning, tire pressure monitoring system, cruise control, and electronic braking system. Optional ADAS capabilities further strengthen safety.
The premium Prima cabin is designed to improve driver comfort and efficiency during extended journeys.
Tata Motors strengthens sustainable mobility portfolio
Tata Motors continues to expand its sustainable commercial vehicle portfolio with technologies including battery electric, CNG, LNG, and hydrogen based solutions. Its offerings cover a wide range of vehicles from small commercial units to heavy duty trucks and buses.
