Ravindra Energy EIM Partners Drivn for EV Fleet Expansion

Ravindra Energy Limited’s associate company Energy in Motion Limited (EIM) has entered into a memorandum of understanding with Drivn to deploy around 1,000 electric heavy-duty commercial trucks across India over the next two years. The collaboration marks a significant step in scaling electric freight mobility in the country, combining manufacturing, leasing, and energy infrastructure under a unified ecosystem.

Large-Scale Electric Truck Deployment Plan

The partnership focuses on accelerating the adoption of electric heavy-duty trucks across logistics and industrial transport sectors. EIM will supply electric vehicles equipped with battery-swapping technology, while Drivn will manage leasing, deployment, and operational support.

Key Project Highlights

  • Deployment of approximately 1,000 electric trucks
  • Execution timeline of two years
  • Focus on heavy-duty commercial transport
  • Integration of battery-swapping systems
  • Combined vehicle, leasing, and energy model

This structure is designed to reduce upfront costs for fleet operators while ensuring efficient vehicle usage and energy management.

Battery-Swapping and Integrated Business Model

A major feature of the initiative is the battery-swapping ecosystem, which allows trucks to operate without long charging downtime. EIM will provide vehicles without battery packs, while separately managing energy supply through charging and swapping infrastructure.

The model is designed to simplify fleet electrification by separating vehicle ownership from battery and energy services. This approach allows transporters to focus on operations while reducing cost and maintenance complexities associated with electric adoption.

Strategic Funding and Market Expansion

Drivn recently secured a US$ 80 million commitment from Nomura, strengthening its financial capacity to expand electric mobility projects. The company is also building multiple partnerships across the EV ecosystem to scale adoption in commercial transport.

The collaboration is expected to support sectors such as logistics, e-commerce, intercity bus transport, cement, and steel industries. The OEM-agnostic approach enables wider adoption across diverse fleet operators seeking cost-efficient electric solutions.

EIM Operational Model and Industry Impact

Energy in Motion Limited, in which Ravindra Energy holds a 49.5% stake, operates on a model that focuses on selling electric trucks without batteries while providing energy services through long-term contracts. The company began commercial operations in August 2025.

Business Model Focus Areas

  • Separation of vehicle and battery ownership
  • Long-term energy supply contracts
  • Swapping and charging infrastructure deployment
  • Fleet efficiency optimization

This model is aimed at reducing barriers for fleet electrification while improving scalability for commercial operators across India’s transport sector.
