Jio-BP Launches Active Technology Petrol at India Energy Week
Jio-BP, the fuel retail and mobility joint venture between Reliance Industries Ltd and BP, has introduced its new ‘Active’ technology petrol at India Energy Week 2026, positioning it as a next-generation fuel designed to improve engine cleanliness, performance and fuel efficiency for Indian motorists.
The company said the newly launched petrol is engineered to clean critical engine components by removing harmful deposits that accumulate over time. By restoring engine efficiency and smooth operation, the fuel is expected to help two-wheelers and four-wheelers deliver measurable real-world benefits, including up to 100 kilometres of additional driving annually without any extra cost to consumers.
The launch was showcased at the India Energy Week venue, where Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri visited the Jio-BP stall and reviewed the technology demonstration. According to the company, the fuel offers smoother rides, improved reliability and reduced maintenance requirements, making it particularly relevant for Indian driving conditions.
Jio-BP said the ‘Active’ technology petrol is built on more than a century of BP’s global fuel research and development expertise. The fuel has undergone extensive testing using both internationally recognised industry benchmarks and customised test methods tailored to India’s diverse engine and road conditions. To validate its effectiveness under real-world usage, Jio-BP conducted a long-distance motorcycle test covering over 4,000 kilometres at the Coimbatore test track.
During India Energy Week, the company demonstrated the fuel’s performance by running two motorcycles side by side — one powered by Active Technology petrol and the other using regular petrol. Advanced borescope imaging revealed a significant reduction in engine deposits in the vehicle using the new fuel, highlighting its cleaning action over prolonged use.
Jio-BP Chairman Sarthak Behuria said Indian consumers prioritise tangible and practical benefits from fuel products. He noted that the new petrol is designed to help engines run smoother, remain more reliable and deliver more distance for the same fuel spend. According to him, the company’s objective is to make advanced fuel technology accessible to everyday motorists rather than positioning it as a premium add-on.
Akshay Wadhwa, CEO of Jio-BP, said the company’s tests confirmed visible engine clean-up and improved performance, translating into efficiency gains that could add up to 100 kilometres of extra drive per year based on average Indian vehicle usage.
Beyond the fuel launch, Jio-BP also highlighted its expanding energy portfolio at India Energy Week, including EV charging solutions, aviation turbine fuel, doorstep diesel delivery and future-ready gaseous fuels. The company said these initiatives align with its broader strategy to support low-carbon mobility while delivering higher value and improved performance to Indian consumers.
