ChargeZone and Tata.ev Open Mega Charging Hub on Expressway
ChargeZone and Tata.ev have inaugurated a co-branded mega charging hub at Khalapur on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway, marking a major expansion in India’s intercity EV charging network. The facility is located at a foodmall and is designed to support fast, high-capacity charging for electric vehicles travelling between Mumbai and Pune.
The hub has a total installed capacity of 720 kW and features five dispensers with ten charging points. It can deliver up to 360 kW in boost mode, allowing multiple EVs to charge simultaneously and reducing waiting time during peak travel hours. This installation is the 75th hub under the ongoing partnership between the two companies, which aims to build over 100 such charging hubs along key national highway corridors.
High-capacity highway charging designed for long-distance travel
The Khalapur charging hub is strategically placed at a busy highway rest stop that already includes restaurants, parking space, and retail outlets. This allows EV users to spend time on other activities while their vehicles are being charged, improving overall travel convenience.
The design of the station enables up to ten vehicles to be charged at the same time, making it suitable for high-traffic conditions on one of India’s busiest expressways. Tata.ev customers also receive up to 25 percent discount on charging services at the location, further encouraging EV adoption on intercity routes.
Partnership aims to expand fast charging infrastructure
ChargeZone Founder and CEO Kartikey Hariyani said highway charging is becoming the backbone of intercity electrification and added that the Khalapur hub sets a new benchmark for public charging infrastructure in India. Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Chief Commercial Officer Vivek Srivatsa said the collaboration aims to build a fast, reliable, and accessible charging network across the country.
He also highlighted that Tata.ev now operates more than 200 mega charging hubs across India as part of its expanding EV ecosystem.
Growing EV charging ecosystem in India
ChargeZone currently operates more than 15,000 charging points across over 1,200 locations in India and the UAE. Based in Vadodara, the company focuses on high-speed and smart-grid-enabled charging solutions for cars, buses, and trucks.
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, part of the Tata Group, remains India’s largest electric four-wheeler manufacturer, and continues to expand its charging partnerships to support rising EV adoption.
