Bangladesh Imports More Diesel From India Pipeline Supply

Bangladesh has continued strengthening its fuel import system through the India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline, receiving another shipment of diesel from India to maintain stable domestic supply. The latest consignment highlights ongoing cross-border energy cooperation aimed at ensuring uninterrupted fuel availability in the country.

Officials confirmed that diesel imports are being routed directly to the Parbatipur Padma Oil depot, a key storage and distribution hub for petroleum products in northern Bangladesh.

Additional 5,000 Tonnes Arrive via India-Bangladesh Pipeline

Bangladesh has started receiving an additional 5,000 tonnes of diesel from India through the India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline, with deliveries reaching the Parbatipur Rail Head depot from the morning of April 16.

According to depot manager Md Ahsan Habib Chowdhury, the fresh supply is part of continuous fuel import operations designed to ensure steady stock levels across the country. The diesel is being transported directly from India through the cross-border pipeline network to improve efficiency and reduce logistical delays.

The India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline continues to serve as a crucial infrastructure link supporting energy security and regular fuel distribution in Bangladesh.

Previous Shipments and Rising Fuel Inflows in April

Before the latest delivery, Bangladesh had already received significant diesel volumes through the same pipeline route. On April 14, 8,000 tonnes of diesel were delivered to the Parbatipur depot from Numaligarh in India.

This followed a larger shipment of 22,000 tonnes in March, bringing total inflows to approximately 30,000 tonnes between March and April 14.

Officials noted that this consistent supply reflects the operational stability of the India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline, which has become a reliable channel for fuel imports into Bangladesh.

Upcoming Deliveries and Fuel Supply Outlook

Authorities have confirmed that more diesel shipments are expected in the coming days. An additional 7,000 tonnes from Numaligarh Refinery Limited is scheduled to arrive within the next four to five days.

Overall, Bangladesh is projected to import around 25,000 tonnes of diesel from India during April, ensuring adequate fuel availability across distribution networks.

The continued use of the India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline is helping streamline imports while maintaining predictable supply flows for domestic consumption.

Operational Measures to Ensure Continuous Supply

To support uninterrupted operations, the Parbatipur depot remained functional even on a public holiday. Officials stated that maintaining continuous operations is essential to handle incoming shipments and ensure smooth fuel distribution.

The government is actively using the India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline to maintain stable fuel reserves and avoid supply disruptions. The pipeline enables direct delivery from India’s Numaligarh refinery to Bangladesh’s storage depots, improving efficiency and reliability.
