Road Projects to Boost Access to Noida International Airport
Following the inauguration of Noida International Airport on March 28, the government has announced several road projects to improve connectivity for NCR cities and nearby districts in western Uttar Pradesh. These initiatives aim to make travel faster, reduce traffic, and support both business and daily commutes.
Key Link Roads and Expressway Connections
A 31-km link road will connect the airport directly to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. Approved by the Union Cabinet on March 10 at a cost of ₹3,631 crore, this road already partially connects to the Yamuna Expressway from Noida, offering direct access to the airport. The remaining stretch in Haryana is expected to be completed by 2027.
Previously, vehicles relied on the Jewar toll route, which will mainly serve cargo traffic once the new road is operational.
Interchanges and Elevated Roads
A cloverleaf interchange between the Eastern Peripheral Expressway and the Yamuna Expressway will further improve airport access. Despite earlier delays, the project is expected to finish by June 2027, benefiting commuters from Palwal, Panipat, Greater Noida, and Meerut.
Additionally, a 1.4 km elevated road in Noida will link Mahamaya Flyover to Yamuna Pushta Road from Sector 94, helping decongest the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. Another project, the 5.7 km Chilla Elevated Road, will also ease traffic on this busy corridor.
Future Transport and Current Routes
In the future, the proposed Ghaziabad-Noida-Jewar RRTS will offer a high-speed rail alternative, though approvals are still pending. Until then, commuters will rely on the Yamuna Expressway as the main route, which stretches 165 km from Pari Chowk in Greater Noida to Agra via Jewar.
Currently, travel from Noida Film City to the airport takes approximately 90 minutes. These projects are expected to reduce travel time, improve connectivity, and make access to Noida International Airport smoother for residents and visitors alike.
