Shriram Pistons Expands Business Into Electric Vehicles And Advanced Automotive Components
Shriram Pistons & Rings Limited has amended its Memorandum of Association (MOA) to broaden its business scope, entering the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem and expanding its portfolio in advanced automotive components. The company’s move reflects growing industry demand for EV powertrains and high-tech vehicle systems.
Expanded Core Business
The MOA amendment updates Clause III(A) to include a wider range of engine and transmission components. The expanded scope covers pistons, piston rings, cylinder liners, engine bearings, valve tappets, connecting rods, steering knuckles, gear assemblies, and power take-offs. Beyond conventional automobiles, trucks, tractors, and motorcycles, the company can now manufacture components for drones, lawnmowers, snowmobiles, submarines, and aircraft.
Entry Into Electric Vehicle And Powertrain Systems
A key addition enables Shriram Pistons to design, manufacture, and sell traction motors—including permanent magnet synchronous, axial flux, radial flux, and combination flux motors—along with motor controllers, DC-DC converters, battery management systems (BMS), and complete e-drive systems. The new clause also encompasses radar and telematics units, infotainment systems, ADAS components, lidars, high-pressure die casting (HPDC) parts, and precision-molded interior and exterior components.
OEM And Jobbing Business Expansion
The third amendment covers original equipment manufacturer (OEM) products and jobbing work for a wide range of automotive components. These include axles, propeller shafts, universal joints, injection-moulded parts, EV water pumps, thermal cooling systems, and plastic fuel capture systems. Automotive lighting products such as LED lights, ambient lights, day running lights, charging indicators, illuminated grilles, and lighted logos are also included. Interior components like capacitive touch panels, intelligent steering systems, sun visors, headliners, door panels, and parcel trays fall under the new scope as well.
