Barabanki Bahraich NH-927 highway project gets Cabinet approval
The Barabanki Bahraich NH-927 highway project has been approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The project involves the construction of a 4-lane access-controlled highway in Uttar Pradesh, covering 101.515 km between Barabanki and Bahraich.
With a total capital cost of Rs 6969.04 crore, the project will be developed under the Hybrid Annuity Mode. It is a key infrastructure move aimed at improving road connectivity, reducing congestion, and boosting economic activity in the region.

The Barabanki Bahraich NH-927 highway project will address major issues such as sharp curves, poor road geometry, and heavy congestion in built-up areas of Barabanki and Bahraich districts.
The upgraded highway will feature access control along with continuous service roads and 48.28 km of bypass stretches to avoid densely populated areas. This will significantly improve traffic flow and safety.
Travel time between the two districts is expected to reduce to nearly one hour, while fuel efficiency and vehicle operating costs will also improve.

The Barabanki Bahraich NH-927 highway project will connect key national highways including NH-27, NH-330B, and NH-730, along with state highways SH-13 and SH-30B.
It will also improve access to important transport hubs such as railway stations in Barabanki, Rasauli, Jangirabad, Bindaura, Burhwal, Ghaghraghat, Jarwal, and Bahraich. Connectivity to airports in Lucknow and Shravasti will also be strengthened.
In addition, the corridor will provide better access to the Rupaidiha land port, enabling smoother cross-border connectivity with Nepal via the Nepalganj border.
Barabanki Bahraich NH-927 highway project to boost economy
The Barabanki Bahraich NH-927 highway project will connect economic and social infrastructure including one SEZ, two mega food parks, and two aspirational districts.
The project aligns with the PM GatiShakti initiative and is expected to boost agri trade, tourism, logistics, and cross-border commerce. It will also improve connectivity to remote areas such as Bahraich and Shravasti districts.
Employment generation is estimated at 36.54 lakh person-days directly and 43.04 lakh person-days indirectly, providing a major push to local economies.
Traffic projections for FY28 indicate strong demand, with expected daily traffic of 28,557 passenger car units in one section and 21,270 in another.
