Servotech Electra EV Patents Low-Voltage Charging Device
Servotech Renewable Power System Ltd. and Electra EV have been jointly granted a patent by the Indian Patent Office for a new electric vehicle charging device. The technology enables fast DC charging of low-voltage EVs operating below 200 volts using existing high-voltage CCS2 charging infrastructure. The device addresses an important interoperability gap in India’s electric mobility network.
Bridging the Low-Voltage EV Charging Gap
The device allows low-voltage EVs such as small commercial vehicles, pickup vans, and vehicles built to GB/T Bharat DC 001 standards to safely connect to high-voltage fast-charging systems. It manages voltage conversion and power transfer to ensure safe and efficient energy delivery. By doing so, it extends the utility of existing CCS2 infrastructure and reduces the need for dedicated low-voltage charging networks.
Arun Handa, Chief Technology Officer at Servotech, said the technology is designed with safety, efficiency, and reliability as primary criteria. He added that it provides a practical solution for urban and last-mile commercial fleet operations where low-voltage EV adoption is increasing.
Supporting Urban Mobility and Commercial Segments
The technology is particularly relevant for small commercial and delivery fleets that operate in congested urban areas. By enabling fast DC charging for a wider range of vehicle types, the device allows fleet operators to use existing infrastructure, reduce operational costs, and improve turnaround times for deliveries and services.
Company Expertise and Future Plans
Servotech Renewable Power System Ltd. has over twenty years of experience in the electronics and EV charging sector, offering a range of AC and DC chargers for commercial and domestic use. Electra EV focuses on electric powertrain and vehicle technology development in India. While no commercial launch date has been announced, the patent demonstrates both companies’ commitment to enhancing EV charging compatibility and supporting the growth of India’s electric mobility ecosystem.
The joint patent granted to Servotech and Electra EV is a significant step in improving EV charging interoperability. The device will enable low-voltage vehicles to access high-voltage fast chargers safely, strengthening India’s EV infrastructure and supporting commercial and urban last-mile mobility.
