Tata.ev Partners with Hopcharge to Launch On-Demand EV Charging Vans in NCR
Tata Motors’ electric vehicle brand, Tata.ev, has partnered with mobile charging provider Hopcharge to introduce on-demand charging vans across the National Capital Region. The initiative aims to remove a major barrier to electric vehicle adoption by providing doorstep charging to owners who lack access to home or building-level charging infrastructure.
This service is particularly relevant for residents living in multi-storey apartments, rented accommodations, or properties where installing a personal charger is impractical or restricted. By bringing the charger to the customer, Tata.ev and Hopcharge hope to simplify electric vehicle ownership and expand adoption in urban areas.
How the On-Demand Charging Service Works
Customers can book a charging van through a dedicated platform. Once a booking is made, the van travels to the customer’s location and charges the electric vehicle on-site.
Key points about the service include:
- Designed for EV owners without home or building-level charging facilities
- Eliminates the need to travel to public charging stations
- Offers convenience for residents of apartments or rented properties
- Integrated with a booking platform for scheduling and location tracking
- Available as a complimentary service for select Tata.ev buyers under promotional offers
As part of the promotion, customers who purchase a Tata.ev through an authorised dealership may receive free doorstep charging for a limited period. Interested buyers are encouraged to contact their nearest Tata.ev dealership for details. Additional information is available at tataxhopcharge.com.
Addressing EV Charging Infrastructure Gaps in NCR
Charging infrastructure remains one of the largest challenges for electric vehicle adoption in India, especially in dense urban centres such as Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, and Faridabad. While public charging networks have expanded in recent years, gaps persist for residents without overnight home charging.
Mobile charging vans provide a flexible solution to this problem. By bringing charging directly to the vehicle, the model reduces dependence on public stations and improves convenience for users.
Tata.ev, a brand under Tata Motors, competes in India’s growing electric passenger vehicle segment. Hopcharge operates mobile EV charging units and has been active in the NCR region. The collaboration is expected to:
- Enhance EV adoption among urban residents
- Reduce range anxiety for city EV owners
- Support environmentally friendly transportation by facilitating electric vehicle use
- Promote flexible, scalable charging solutions that can be expanded to other regions in the future
The financial details of the partnership and the number of vans to be deployed have not been disclosed. There is also no information yet on whether the service will expand beyond the NCR or the timeline for such an expansion.
With Tata.ev and Hopcharge’s collaboration, doorstep charging is now a viable option for urban electric vehicle owners. By combining convenience, accessibility, and flexible scheduling, the partnership addresses one of the most persistent challenges in India’s EV sector and encourages wider adoption of sustainable mobility.
