Indian Mobility Advances with Wipro, Musashi, SML
India’s mobility sector is witnessing a transformative phase as leading companies drive innovation, sustainability, and reliability across transportation, construction, and electric vehicle markets. Wipro Hydraulics, Musashi Seimitsu Industry, and SML Mahindra are at the forefront of these developments, enhancing performance and operational efficiency across industries while shaping a cleaner and smarter future.

Wipro Hydraulics Focuses on Cleaner, Smarter Systems
Wipro Hydraulics is proving that traditional hydraulics can be modern, efficient, and sustainable. Under the leadership of President Sitaram Ganeshan, the company is redesigning hydraulic cylinders to be lighter without compromising strength, resulting in better fuel efficiency and reduced emissions. For global markets, particularly Europe, the company is also developing cylinders compatible with bio-oils. These measures make hydraulics cleaner and more efficient even where electric powertrains are not yet practical.
Wipro emphasizes delivering value beyond cost. Through continuous investment in research, development, and advanced manufacturing, the company ensures that its products remain reliable, durable, and competitive. A well-managed supply chain supports cost control while maintaining quality standards, which is crucial for critical components like hydraulic cylinders.
Reliability is central to Wipro’s operations. Downtime in construction and industrial equipment can be costly, and Wipro designs cylinders to maintain high uptime, directly supporting the productivity of machines they power. The company also actively educates dealers and customers about counterfeit risks, ensuring genuine components are used for safety and long-term performance.
While electrification is gaining momentum, hydraulics remain vital for medium and high-tonnage applications. Wipro is developing electric actuators for smaller machines while improving traditional cylinders for larger vehicles. Digitalisation strengthens the company further, with AI and machine learning improving manufacturing efficiency, quality checks, and response times. Sensor-enabled products, such as TipMatrix, enhance operational safety and reliability.
Wipro is prepared for future growth, with sufficient land and capacity to expand facilities or build new greenfield plants. The company continues to serve applications ranging from mini excavators and telehandlers to garbage trucks and tippers, demonstrating the long-term outlook for hydraulics in India’s growing infrastructure landscape.
Musashi Seimitsu Industry Pushes India’s EV Adoption
Musashi Seimitsu Industry combines decades of internal combustion experience with advanced electric solutions. The company currently supplies e-axles to startups including BNC, BuyMyEV, and Emobi while conducting trials with major OEMs. Next in line are e-axles for three-wheelers, signaling a strategic expansion of the electric mobility ecosystem.
COO Shinji Ieki highlighted Musashi’s integrated approach. The company supplies key components to two-wheeler leaders like HMSI, TVS Motor, and Royal Enfield, as well as passenger vehicle majors such as Maruti Suzuki and Honda. Musashi also assembles stator-rotors, motors, and gear systems into complete e-axles for electric scooters and three-wheelers, transitioning from a component supplier to a system integrator.
A strong localisation strategy allows Musashi to manufacture over 95 percent of parts in India, with only a few imported components such as magnets. Side motors designed for Indian conditions provide improved cooling, higher torque, and durable performance on rough roads, making them ideal for delivery fleets and bike taxis.
Musashi maintains a fully integrated manufacturing system, from raw materials to machining, heat treatment, and assembly. The company blends ICE and EV manufacturing processes, following strict quality protocols and Japanese cultural values such as discipline, teamwork, and customer focus. Its ongoing “Go Far Beyond” vision encompasses mobility, automation, energy, and digitalisation, ensuring continuous reinvention and readiness for the future.
SML Mahindra Strengthens Maharashtra Police Mobility
SML Mahindra has supplied 360 Special Police Buses to the Maharashtra Police to improve operational mobility and rapid response capabilities. The buses were unveiled at a flag-off ceremony in Pune attended by senior police leadership and SML executives, including All India Marketing Head Prashant Kumar and Head of Institutional Sales Saurabh Sehgal.
The fleet features the SML Prestige Mini Bus platform, a 2,815 mm wheelbase vehicle with six tyres, engineered for stability, reliability, and ride quality across diverse terrains. The buses include advanced exterior features such as stone-protection mesh, LED bar lights with sirens, high-intensity floodlights, roof-mounted platforms, camera systems, and public address equipment.
Inside, the buses are configured for emergency response with rear flap doors, berths, foldable stretchers, and storage for helmets, shields, and batons. Independent inverters power floodlights without drawing from the main battery, and foldable work tables facilitate on-site administrative tasks, supporting efficient and safe police operations.
Conclusion
Together, Wipro Hydraulics, Musashi Seimitsu Industry, and SML Mahindra illustrate how Indian mobility is evolving across hydraulics, electric vehicles, and institutional transport. By combining innovation, reliability, and sustainability, these companies are preparing India’s infrastructure, urban transport, and EV sectors for a smarter, greener future.
