SWITCH Mobility Flags Off 272 Electric Buses Delhi
SWITCH Mobility, part of the Hinduja Group, has officially flagged off 272 EiV12 low-floor electric buses in Delhi as part of the Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) tender. This rollout is the second phase of a larger deployment of 950 electric buses aimed at transforming the national capital’s public transport network.
The flag-off ceremony was held at Ramlila Maidan and witnessed by prominent dignitaries, including Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, BJP National President Nitin Nabin, Delhi Transport Minister Pankaj Singh, Transport Commissioner Niharika Singh, and DTC Managing Director Jitender Yadav.
Phased Deployment Across Delhi
Under the CESL tender, SWITCH Mobility will deploy a total of 950 electric buses across multiple depots in Delhi. Phase 1 saw 93 buses delivered, while Phase 2 contributed an additional 272 buses. These buses will operate from key depots, including Okhla Srinivas Puri (SNP), Grand Trunk Road Depot, Rajghat Bus Terminal, and others. Operational support and service integration are being provided by Ohm Global Mobility to ensure seamless functioning of the fleet.
Advanced Features of EiV12 Electric Buses
The EiV12 buses are manufactured at SWITCH Mobility’s Tamil Nadu facility and come equipped with a range of modern features for urban public transport operations:
- Low-floor, low-entry design with kneeling and tilting functions
- Floor-mounted batteries and rear-mounted charging ports
- Wheelchair ramp for accessibility
- Fire detection and suppression system
- SWITCH ION telematics monitoring over 140 parameters with 80+ alerts
- Dual-gun fast charging capability
These features are designed to enhance passenger comfort, safety, and operational efficiency while supporting high-frequency urban transport routes.
