Mahindra Last Mile Mobility (MLMM), a major player in India’s commercial and three-wheeler segment, has previewed its next-generation electric L3 passenger e-rickshaw ahead of its official launch. Through a series of shadow teaser images in a metallic blue shade, the company has offered a glimpse into the design and features of its upcoming vehicle, signalling its intent to further consolidate its position in the rapidly growing electric three-wheeler market.

The move comes as demand for electric last-mile mobility solutions continues to rise across urban and semi-urban India. Mahindra, which already holds a dominant share in the e-rickshaw segment, appears to be positioning this new model as a more refined, feature-rich option in the L3 category.

Exterior Design: Familiar Yet More Polished

The new Mahindra e-rickshaw carries forward a design language similar to the company’s existing Treo and E-Alfa range but with noticeable upgrades. Built on a long wheelbase, the vehicle is expected to deliver improved stability and better passenger comfort, making it well-suited for daily urban transport operations.

At the front, the e-rickshaw features dual halogen headlamps, while the rear gets halogen taillamps, ensuring bright and cost-effective illumination in low-visibility conditions. A large front windscreen paired with a single wiper is designed to enhance driver visibility during rain.

Another practical design addition is the placement of vertical side mirrors, which provide a clearer view of the rear wheels and surroundings—an important safety feature for navigating narrow streets and tight parking spaces. The vehicle also gets a hard-top roof, offering better protection from harsh weather while improving structural durability and allowing for potential accessory fitments.

One of the standout exterior elements is the 12-inch 4-spoke alloy wheel design featuring the Mahindra logo at the centre. However, based on available images, the driver’s cabin does not appear to have a dedicated door.

Additional anticipated features include a lockable glove box, 12-volt charging socket, and multiple drive modes to suit different road conditions.

One notable highlight is the presence of a slot at the rear that suggests the inclusion of a reverse parking sensor or camera. While not officially confirmed, industry experts believe Mahindra is likely to offer a reverse parking sensor to differentiate its product in the competitive L3 segment.

Mahindra Last Mile Mobility has announced that the new e-rickshaw is set to be launched on 12 February 2026. The vehicle is expected to compete directly with models like the recently introduced Bajaj Riki P40 05 E Rickshaw.

Between April and November 2025, Mahindra maintained a commanding share of the e-rickshaw market, outperforming several rivals. With this new launch, the company seems determined to maintain its leadership while appealing to fleet operators and individual drivers looking for a reliable, modern electric three-wheeler.
