FASTag Annual Pass Crosses 50 Lakh Users in Six Months

Rapid Adoption Across National Highways
The FASTag Annual Pass has surpassed 50 lakh users within six months of its launch, marking a significant milestone for India’s digital toll collection initiative. Launched on August 15, 2025, the program has processed over 26.55 crore transactions, demonstrating strong adoption among private vehicle owners. Currently, the Annual Pass accounts for approximately 28 percent of total car transactions on National Highways, signaling growing trust in cashless, automated toll systems.

Regional Usage Insights
Data from National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) shows concentrated usage across certain fee plazas and states:

  • Delhi NCR Leads: Bijwasan Fee Plaza records the highest usage, with 57 percent of cars utilizing the Annual Pass. Mundaka Fee Plaza in Delhi NCR and Jhinjholi Fee Plaza in Sonipat each see around 53 percent adoption among non-commercial vehicles.
  • State-Wise Trends: Chandigarh leads with 14 percent of total Annual Pass transactions, followed by Tamil Nadu at 12.3 percent and Delhi at 11.5 percent. The distribution indicates the program’s nationwide reach, spanning northern urban centers to southern states.

Program Structure and Benefits
The FASTag Annual Pass operates across nearly 1,150 fee plazas on National Highways and Expressways. Eligible vehicles include all non-commercial vehicles with an active FASTag registration.

  • One-Time Payment: Vehicle owners pay Rs. 3,000 for the Annual Pass, which remains valid for one year or 200 toll crossings, whichever comes first.
  • Easy Activation: The pass can be activated within two hours of payment through the Rajmargyatra App or NHAI website, linking directly to the vehicle’s existing FASTag account.
  • Simplified Toll Payments: The pass eliminates the need for frequent recharges, allowing users to pass through toll plazas without making individual payments during its validity period.

Users can conveniently monitor remaining crossings and validity through the digital platform. Once 200 crossings are completed or the annual validity expires, the pass must be renewed to continue enjoying its benefits.

Nationwide Impact and Future Outlook
The success of the FASTag Annual Pass highlights the increasing adoption of digital toll payment solutions and their potential to reduce congestion at plazas, improve efficiency, and promote cashless transactions. With more than 26.55 crore transactions recorded since launch, the program demonstrates strong penetration and acceptance across India’s diverse geographic regions.

Authorities are optimistic that continued awareness and seamless digital operations will further increase adoption, making the Annual Pass an essential tool for regular highway commuters seeking convenience, time savings, and hassle-free toll payments.
