India’s Auto Component Exports Gain Global Momentum

Exports Remain a Pillar of Growth for India’s Auto Component Industry

Exports continue to drive growth for India’s auto component sector, accounting for nearly 30% of the industry’s output, according to Vikram Raghupati Singhania, President of the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA). Speaking at the sixth edition of ACMA Automechanika, Singhania emphasized that international trade remains a crucial growth lever for the $80-billion industry.

Global Integration Boosted by FTAs

Singhania highlighted the importance of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) in integrating India’s auto component industry with global automotive value chains. Recent agreements with the United States and the European Union are expected to provide Indian suppliers access to large, technologically advanced markets. These agreements could serve as “game changers” by enabling deeper global integration and enhancing India’s role as a reliable supplier of high-quality components to both OEMs and aftermarket clients worldwide.

Resilience Amid Global Challenges

Despite facing global headwinds such as geopolitical disruptions, supply chain volatility, inflation, and rapid technology transitions, the Indian auto component industry has demonstrated resilience. Singhania noted that India is not only the world’s fastest-growing automotive market but is also emerging as a dependable global supplier, with companies investing in innovation, capacity expansion, and international partnerships.

Government Support for Export Growth

The government’s proactive role in promoting exports was also acknowledged. Policy measures including market access facilitation, logistics support, finance schemes, and standards alignment have helped Indian suppliers compete effectively on the global stage. Singhania credited these initiatives with sustaining the industry’s export momentum and providing coordinated support for growth.

ACMA Automechanika: A Global Platform

The sixth edition of ACMA Automechanika showcased the sector’s international reach and ambition. Spread over 51,000 square metres, the exhibition hosted more than 870 exhibitors representing over 3,000 brands from more than 20 countries. International pavilions from seven nations reinforced India’s increasing integration into global automotive and aftermarket value chains.

“Each successive edition has grown in scale, relevance and international participation,” Singhania said. “The 6th edition reflects both the resilience and ambition of the industry, highlighting India’s emergence as a significant player in the global auto component ecosystem.”

Outlook for the Industry

With continued government support and favorable trade agreements, the Indian auto component industry is well-positioned to expand its global footprint. Exports are set to remain a key pillar of growth, driving investments, innovation, and long-term integration into international automotive supply chains.

This outlook underscores India’s dual strength: a rapidly expanding domestic market complemented by a growing presence in global automotive trade.
