Ashok Leyland January 2026 Truck Sales Surge
Ashok Leyland Starts 2026 on a Strong Growth Trajectory
Ashok Leyland, the flagship commercial vehicle arm of the Hinduja Group, has begun 2026 on a robust note, recording a sharp rise in both domestic and export truck sales in January. The company’s latest monthly sales report highlights sustained demand across its medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles (M&HCV) as well as light commercial vehicles (LCVs), reflecting continued momentum in infrastructure, logistics, and freight movement across key markets.
With overall commercial vehicle sales climbing significantly year-on-year, the results underscore Ashok Leyland’s strengthening position in India’s CV sector amid improving economic activity and fleet replacement demand.
Domestic Market Drives the Bulk of Growth
Ashok Leyland’s performance in the Indian domestic market was a key driver of its January 2026 sales surge. The company sold 11,359 M&HCV trucks within the country, marking a 45% increase compared to 7,839 units sold in January 2025. This strong uptick suggests rising demand for larger freight vehicles, likely supported by infrastructure expansion, construction activity, and higher logistics movement.
The company also saw healthy traction in its LCV segment. Domestic sales of light commercial vehicles stood at 7,246 units in January 2026, up 33% from 5,463 units sold in the same month last year. This growth indicates steady demand from small businesses, last-mile delivery operators, and e-commerce logistics players.
Overall, Ashok Leyland sold 18,605 trucks in India in January 2026, registering a 39.86% year-on-year increase from 13,302 units sold in January 2025.
Export Sales Show Steady Improvement
Ashok Leyland’s international business also demonstrated resilience, with total export sales rising year-on-year. In January 2026, the company shipped 441 M&HCV trucks to overseas markets, a modest 2.55% increase from 430 units exported in January 2025.
The LCV export segment performed even better, growing 24.04% year-on-year from 366 units in January 2025 to 454 units in January 2026. This suggests growing acceptance of Ashok Leyland’s lighter commercial vehicles in select global markets.
Overall, the company’s total commercial vehicle exports increased by 12.43%, rising from 796 units in January 2025 to 895 units in January 2026.
Total Sales Rise Nearly 40% YoY
When domestic and export figures are combined, Ashok Leyland’s total commercial truck sales stood at 19,500 units in January 2026, compared to 14,098 units in January 2025 — a strong 38.31% year-on-year increase.
Breaking this down by segment, total M&HCV sales (domestic and exports combined) rose 43% to 11,800 units in January 2026 from 8,269 units in January 2025. Meanwhile, LCV sales climbed 32% year-on-year, increasing from 5,829 units in January 2025 to 7,700 units in January 2026.
Strong Start to the Year for Commercial Vehicles
Looking at broader commercial vehicle performance, Ashok Leyland sold and exported 14,220 M&HCV trucks and buses in January 2026, up 25% from 11,384 units in the same month last year.
Across all commercial vehicle categories, the company sold and exported 21,920 units in January 2026 — a solid 27% increase from 17,213 units in January 2025.
With rising demand across segments and steady export performance, Ashok Leyland appears well-positioned for continued growth in 2026, supported by infrastructure spending, logistics expansion, and fleet modernization trends.
