MSRTC Launches Shivai AC Bus Pune-Borivali 

The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has launched its new ‘Shivai’ air-conditioned bus service on the Pune Station–Borivali route via Sion, aiming to meet growing passenger demand and enhance comfort for intercity travellers.

Operated from the Shivajinagar bus depot, the Shivai AC buses are set to provide a safer, faster, and more reliable commuting option between Pune and Mumbai’s suburban regions. MSRTC officials emphasised that the service is particularly useful during peak hours when passenger traffic along the Pune–Mumbai corridor is consistently high.

The service follows a streamlined route to ensure timely arrivals in Mumbai’s western suburbs, with key halts at Vallabhnagar, Chinchwad Station, and Nigdi before entering Mumbai via Sion and terminating at Borivali.

To cater to different travel needs, MSRTC has scheduled eight primary departures from Pune Station, covering both morning and afternoon travel windows:

Morning Departures: 6:00 AM, 7:00 AM, 8:00 AM, 9:00 AM
Afternoon Departures: 1:00 PM, 2:00 PM, 3:00 PM, 4:00 PM

Divisional Controller Arun Siya highlighted that the Shivai buses are designed to reduce passenger fatigue on the 3.5 to 4-hour journey. The buses feature ergonomically designed seating, climate control maintained at comfortable temperatures, and modern safety protocols.

Passengers can book seats through multiple official channels for convenience. Reservations are available via the MSRTC Mobile Reservation App, which supports both Android and iOS devices. Offline bookings can be made at counters located at Pune Station, Vallabhnagar, Chinchwad, and Nigdi. Online booking is also available through the official MSRTC website (npublic.msrtcors.com).

The introduction of the Shivai AC service underscores MSRTC’s efforts to modernise public transport, enhance passenger comfort, and offer a reliable alternative to private travel along one of Maharashtra’s busiest routes. Officials have encouraged travellers to make use of this service, noting that it provides a combination of speed, safety, and comfort that aligns with the corporation’s broader mission to upgrade intercity bus services.
