CNG Truck Fire Triggers Explosions in Ludhiana
Ludhiana: CNG Truck Blaze Sparks Four Explosions, Driver Escapes Unharmed
Ludhiana witnessed a dramatic incident early Sunday morning as a CNG-powered truck carrying highly flammable foam materials caught fire in Ghati Mohalla, Sunder Nagar, triggering four powerful explosions. Miraculously, no injuries were reported, and the driver escaped unhurt by jumping out of the vehicle before the blaze intensified.
Eyewitnesses reported that the explosions sent shockwaves through the narrow streets, prompting locals to rush out of their homes. The truck, transporting foam used in mattress manufacturing, quickly became engulfed in flames, producing thick, black smoke that filled the surrounding area. People out for their morning walks were among the first to notice the fire and raised the alarm, drawing more residents to the scene.
The Sunder Nagar fire station received the emergency call at approximately 6:15 am. Fire officer Ravinderjit Singh said, “When our teams arrived, the truck was fully ablaze. We deployed two fire tenders, and the fire was brought under control within about 30 minutes.”
Preliminary investigations indicate that a short circuit in overhead electricity wires may have sparked the fire. Officials highlighted that low-hanging power lines in the area increase the risk of such accidents. The combination of CNG fuel and highly combustible foam contributed to the intensity of the blaze and the subsequent explosions.
Residents described the scene as chaotic, with flames spreading rapidly through the narrow lane, turning it into an immediate fire zone. Quick action from locals and the fire department prevented the situation from escalating further, averting potential casualties and extensive property damage.
Authorities are conducting a detailed probe to confirm the exact cause of the incident and are likely to examine electrical wiring and safety protocols in the area. Officials have also urged residents and businesses to exercise caution around low-hanging power lines, particularly in zones where flammable materials are transported or stored.
While the incident caused significant alarm, the swift response from emergency services ensured that the fire was contained promptly, demonstrating the importance of preparedness and quick action in preventing potential disasters.
