Benipatti–Punauradham Road Boosts Connectivity, Regional Growth
₹517 Crore Benipatti–Punauradham Road Project Underway to Boost Connectivity
Construction has officially begun on the ₹517 crore four-lane Benipatti–Punauradham road, a project set to transform travel and economic activity in Madhubani and Sitamarhi districts of Bihar. The corridor will directly link Benipatti with Punauradham, the birthplace of Maa Sita, where a grand temple is under construction, making the route a crucial artery for religious tourism.
Officials highlighted that the new road will significantly reduce travel time between the two districts, providing smoother and faster movement for commuters, traders, and pilgrims. Beyond travel efficiency, the corridor is expected to bolster social, cultural, and economic interactions, fostering long-term regional growth.
Several stretches of the road are already progressing, with earth-filling and road layout work completed. Bridges and other structures are under construction at select locations, supported by heavy machinery and a sizable workforce. Authorities have indicated that the project is on track and will provide a high-quality corridor to meet growing traffic demands.
In parallel, the Chief Minister’s Area Development Scheme has sanctioned ₹2.25 crore for the repair and upgrading of 25 additional roads in Madhubani district. This initiative aims to improve connectivity between villages, towns, and main routes, facilitating easier access to education, healthcare, and trade. The smaller road upgrades are expected to be completed within a year.
Benipatti is emerging as a hub for road infrastructure in the region. Over the past decade, several important roads have been constructed, and the new four-lane corridor is set to give the town a distinct identity as a center of connectivity. Officials believe that this infrastructure development will also encourage investment, tourism, and socio-economic activities, driving a comprehensive regional uplift.
The Benipatti–Punauradham road is more than a construction project; it is envisioned as a gateway to sustainable development. By connecting key districts and enhancing access to religious and economic sites, the project underscores Bihar’s focus on modern infrastructure as a catalyst for growth. Residents and officials alike are optimistic that improved road connectivity will transform daily life, encourage local business, and attract visitors, ultimately contributing to long-term prosperity for the region.
