Tata Yodha CNG Pickup Emerges Strong Business Choice
Tata Motors has strengthened its presence in India’s CNG commercial vehicle segment with the Tata Yodha CNG pickup, a model aimed squarely at businesses focused on profitability, durability, and long-term reliability. Designed for both last-mile delivery and long-haul cargo operations, the Yodha CNG positions itself as a practical solution for fleet owners and independent transport operators in 2026.
At the heart of the Tata Yodha CNG is a 2956 cc Tata 4SP SGI naturally aspirated CNG engine paired with a GBS-76 5-speed synchromesh gearbox. This combination is tuned to deliver strong low-end torque, a key requirement when hauling heavy loads on highways or climbing steep inclines in hilly regions. The pickup produces 74 hp (55.2 kW) of power and generates 200 Nm of torque between 1400 and 1600 rpm, allowing it to handle bulk and moderately heavy cargo with ease.
To complement its engine performance, Tata Motors has equipped the Yodha CNG with a heavy-duty suspension setup built for rough usage. The pickup uses semi-elliptical leaf spring suspension at both the front and rear, featuring six leaf plates in the front and nine at the rear. This configuration ensures durability under high load stress and poor road conditions, while also contributing to higher vehicle uptime and reduced maintenance needs for businesses operating across long distances.
Braking performance has also been given due importance. The Tata Yodha CNG comes fitted with disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear, offering effective stopping power even when the vehicle is fully loaded. These brake components are designed for durability and low maintenance, an important consideration for commercial vehicle owners focused on operating costs.
One of the major advantages of the Yodha CNG is its large load body. Measuring 2550 mm in length, 1750 mm in width, and 324 mm in height, the pickup allows operators to transport a wide variety of goods in fewer trips. With a rated payload capacity of 1,490 kg, it is suitable for carrying cement bags, agricultural produce, water cans, LPG cylinders, and other heavy cargo.
Adding to its appeal is Tata Motors’ standard warranty of 3 years or 3,00,000 km, providing peace of mind over extended ownership periods. The pickup also features dual CNG cylinders with a combined 90-litre water capacity, offering an approximate driving range of 450 km. Other highlights include a top speed of 80 kmph, 32 percent gradeability, 210 mm ground clearance, and wider 215/75 R16 LT tyres.
Overall, the Tata Yodha CNG pickup stands out in 2026 as a reliable, cost-effective, and robust commercial vehicle option for businesses seeking long-term operational efficiency and dependable performance.
