Eicher Records Strong Heavy-Duty Truck Sales Growth
Eicher Motors closed December 2025 on a strong note, reporting healthy growth across its domestic commercial vehicle portfolio, particularly in the heavy-duty truck segment. According to the latest sales data released by VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV), the Volvo Group–Eicher Motors joint venture, demand momentum remained positive across key categories despite mixed global trends.
In the heavy-duty (HD) trucks category, Eicher recorded a year-on-year growth of 22.7 percent in domestic sales. The company sold 2,622 HD trucks in December 2025, compared to 2,137 units in December 2024. This growth reflects sustained demand from infrastructure, mining, and long-haul freight operators, where fleet replacement cycles and freight movement picked up toward the end of the year.
The performance of Eicher’s small commercial vehicle (SCV) and light and medium-duty (LMD) segments was even stronger. Domestic sales in this category rose sharply from 3,641 units in December 2024 to 5,258 units in December 2025, marking a significant 44.4 percent year-on-year increase. The growth highlights rising demand from e-commerce, FMCG, cold chain logistics, and last-mile delivery operators across urban and semi-urban markets.
Exports also contributed positively to Eicher’s overall numbers. In December 2025, the company exported 362 LMD trucks, up from 319 units in the same month last year, registering a 13.5 percent annual growth. Heavy-duty truck exports showed a sharper jump, with 85 units shipped overseas compared to 40 units in December 2024, translating into a 112.5 percent year-on-year increase.
Eicher’s entry into the sub-5-tonne segment with the Pro X range has further strengthened its position in the SCV market. Available in both electric and diesel variants, the Pro X lineup is offered in 2,995 kg and 3,490 kg GVW options. These trucks are designed for applications such as parcel delivery, courier services, FMCG distribution, and temperature-controlled logistics, catering to evolving industry requirements.
Overall, VE Commercial Vehicles reported combined domestic sales of 9,527 HD and LMD commercial vehicles in December 2025. This represents a 26.3 percent increase over the 7,545 units sold during the same period last year. When exports are included, total overseas shipments of trucks and buses rose from 490 units in December 2024 to 650 units in December 2025, reflecting a 32.7 percent year-on-year rise.
However, Volvo-branded truck and bus sales under the VECV umbrella declined during the month. Volvo’s total sales dropped 28.4 percent year-on-year, from 289 units in December 2024 to 207 units in December 2025.
Despite this decline, VECV’s overall performance remained strong. Taking domestic and export sales of trucks, buses, and electric commercial vehicles into account, the company recorded total sales of 10,384 units in December 2025, up from 8,324 units a year earlier. This represents a solid 24.7 percent year-on-year growth, underlining Eicher’s strengthening position in India’s commercial vehicle market.
