Scania SUPER Trucks Redefine Heavy-Duty Efficiency India
Scania Commercial Vehicles India has unveiled its most advanced heavy-duty truck platform, SUPER, marking a significant step forward for mining, construction, and long-haul fleet operations in India. Introduced in September 2025, the SUPER platform is engineered to deliver enhanced fuel efficiency, torque, uptime, and total cost of ownership (TCO), offering fleet operators tangible operational benefits.
“SUPER is built around what matters most to our customers—over 10% fuel savings, higher uptime, and clear cost advantages,” said Silvio Munhoz, Managing Director, Scania Commercial Vehicles India Pvt. Ltd. The launch reflects Scania’s focus on application-specific engineering, combining global powertrain expertise with insights from Indian operating conditions.
At the heart of SUPER is a new-generation 13-litre engine designed for heavy-duty operations. Delivering torque from 2,800 Nm to 3,800 Nm, the engine supports high-load applications such as mining and infrastructure projects. Advanced combustion technology, intelligent fuel management, and optimised driveline integration ensure more than 10% fuel savings without compromising performance. This translates into lower cost-per-tonne and improved operating margins for fleet owners.
The platform also introduces a state-of-the-art gearbox that complements the high-torque engine, providing smooth gear shifts, reduced driveline stress, and extended component life. Fleet operators benefit from improved driveability, faster cycle times, and reduced driver fatigue, even in challenging terrains.
A standout feature of SUPER is Scania’s fuel optimisation system, which utilises up to 97% of tank capacity—claimed as a segment first. This allows longer drive times between refuelling, reducing downtime and increasing daily vehicle utilisation, especially critical for remote mining operations and long-haul logistics.
Reliability is central to SUPER’s design. Tested for Indian conditions, the trucks handle high temperatures, variable fuel quality, and demanding duty cycles. Scania complements the vehicle offering with a 360-degree solution—service support, maintenance planning, and flexible funding—ensuring customers invest not just in a truck but in a comprehensive operational system.
SUPER is fully customisable to meet diverse fleet requirements, supporting higher efficiency per tonne and faster turnaround times. Targeted at mining, construction, and long-haul segments, the platform balances cost-efficiency, performance, and sustainability, aligning with India’s growing infrastructure and freight demands.
The launch also fits into Scania’s broader strategic roadmap. Globally, the company inaugurated its third industrial hub in Rugao, China, in 2025, a Euro two-billion facility designed for 50,000 trucks annually. Insights from this hub, including modular production and supply chain optimisation, are expected to influence operations in India, reinforcing Scania’s ability to deliver competitive, high-performance heavy-duty solutions across the Asia-Pacific region.
With SUPER, Scania strengthens its position in India’s heavy-duty truck market, offering operators a bridge technology that combines immediate efficiency gains with long-term sustainability goals.
