Piaggio Expands Cargo Lineup With New Diesel Three-Wheelers

Piaggio Vehicles Pvt. Ltd. (PVPL) has widened its presence in the last-mile cargo segment with the launch of two new diesel-powered three-wheelers—the Apé Xtra Bada 700 and the Apé Xtra 600. The new models, unveiled as part of the company’s evolving commercial vehicle portfolio, aim to address growing demand for higher payload capacity, stronger performance, and more efficient logistics solutions in India’s booming small cargo industry.

The highlight of the announcement is the Apé Xtra Bada 700, which Piaggio bills as a category disruptor. It introduces India’s first 7-foot cargo deck in the three-wheeler segment and offers a best-in-class 750 kg payload capacity, making it the most capable cargo 3W in its category. Powered by a 700 DI diesel engine, the vehicle features an all-new chassis and cabin, along with a digital instrument cluster for enhanced operator convenience. Other key upgrades include 12-inch radial tyres, refined suspension geometry for better stability, and an optional rear parking sensor to improve safety during reversing.

The second model, the Apé Xtra 600, is equipped with a newly engineered 600 DI diesel engine. Piaggio claims the vehicle delivers improved mileage, enhanced gradeability, and superior load-carrying ability, making it an ideal choice for intra-city distribution and semi-urban freight applications. The model aims to serve small businesses, fleet operators, and logistics networks that require efficient solutions for stop-and-go operations.

Diego Graffi, Chairman and Managing Director of Piaggio Vehicles Pvt. Ltd., said the new products showcase the company’s commitment to innovation in the last-mile mobility space. “The Apé Xtra Bada 700 is a landmark product with industry-first advancements in engine capacity, deck size, and payload,” he said. “It is designed to empower customers with higher productivity and improved earnings, while the Apé Xtra 600 reinforces our promise of high-value, efficient solutions.”

Amit Sagar, Executive Vice President at PVPL, highlighted the changing cargo landscape and the need for stronger, more versatile vehicles. He said customers today expect higher power, increased payloads, better comfort, and robust performance—all areas where the new models aim to deliver. “The Apé Xtra Bada 700 brings a powerful, fresh platform with several segment-first features that directly support profitability. It also offers an attractive alternative to small four-wheeler cargo vehicles through better operating economics and total cost of ownership,” he added. “Meanwhile, the Apé Xtra 600 strengthens our diesel cargo lineup with enhanced capabilities.”

Both new models will be available across dealerships starting November 2025, with the Apé Xtra Bada 700 priced at ₹3.45 lakh and the Apé Xtra 600 at ₹2.88 lakh (ex-showroom, Maharashtra). Piaggio expects the launches to solidify its leadership in the cargo 3-wheeler segment as customers look for higher-performing diesel options.
