Atul Gemini Plus CNG Auto Rickshaw Unveiled: Dimensions, Capacity and Key Rivals

Atul Auto has expanded its three-wheeler portfolio with the launch of the new Atul Gemini Plus CNG auto rickshaw, a model designed to offer a stronger build, enhanced passenger comfort and improved stability for daily urban and semi-urban transport. With the CNG segment accounting for nearly a third of all three-wheeler retail sales in India, the company is strategically positioning the Gemini Plus to capture rising demand for economical and clean mobility options.

Strong Body Structure and Practical Dimensions

Engineered with a monocoque chassis, the Gemini Plus has been developed to handle tougher road conditions that are common across last-mile routes. The vehicle comes with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 730 kg and a kerb weight of 410 kg, allowing for a payload capacity of 320 kg. Staying consistent with segment standards, the rickshaw is configured to carry a driver and three passengers.

The Gemini Plus also features a spacious body layout, measuring 2690 mm in length, 1325 mm in width and 1700 mm in height, ensuring extra cabin width and additional legroom. Its long wheelbase of 1918 mm and a rear wheel track of 1152 mm help distribute weight more effectively, improving stability and performance during fully loaded operations. With 8-inch tubeless tyres and 200 mm of ground clearance, the vehicle is built to negotiate speed breakers and uneven surfaces while offering a relatively smooth ride.

Expected Pricing and Competitor Landscape

While Atul Auto has not disclosed the official price yet, the Gemini Plus is expected to compete in a crowded segment where several established players are strong performers. Its closest rivals include the Piaggio Ape NXT Plus, TVS King Duramax Plus, Bajaj RE and Mahindra Alfa Dx Duo. Collectively, these models dominate the CNG three-wheeler market across multiple states.

To support new buyers, Atul Auto is offering a standard three-year warranty on the Gemini Plus, which is likely to enhance the model’s value proposition and strengthen customer confidence in long-term ownership.

Market Context and Early Impression

CNG three-wheelers currently account for nearly 25–30% of the domestic three-wheeler retail market, placing them just behind electric three-wheelers in overall demand. Analysts believe the introduction of the Gemini Plus aligns with a broader industry shift where manufacturers are refreshing CNG line-ups to complement their EV strategies and appeal to price-sensitive customers seeking affordable running costs.

Early impressions of the Atul Gemini Plus indicate that it has been designed with a focus on practicality, usability and commuter comfort. Its wider seating arrangement, better legroom and chassis stability make it suitable for dense city routes, congested lanes and frequent short-distance trips that define daily intra-city mobility.

As the CNG segment continues to hold a major share of India’s passenger-carrying three-wheeler market, Atul Auto’s latest offering is positioned to attract operators looking for a dependable, economical and durable mobility solution.
