DICV Chief Satyakam Arya to Head Hino Motors in 2026

Satyakam Arya, the current Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), has been named the next President and CEO of Japan-based Hino Motors. His appointment will take effect on April 1, 2026, pending necessary regulatory approvals.

The leadership move comes as part of the ongoing integration between Daimler Truck and Toyota Motor Corporation’s commercial vehicle divisions—Mitsubishi Fuso and Hino Motors. The merged entity, known as ARCHION, is scheduled to commence operations in April 2026. Arya will relocate to Tokyo to lead Hino’s global business and oversee its transformation under the new structure.

Confirming the announcement, Achim Puchert, Member of the Board of Management at Daimler Truck Holding AG and responsible for Mercedes-Benz Trucks and BharatBenz, lauded Arya’s contributions. “Satyakam has been an outstanding leader during his time with us. His deep understanding of commercial vehicle operations and unwavering focus on customer success have set benchmarks for the industry,” Puchert said.

During Arya’s leadership, DICV achieved record profitability and expanded its customer base across all segments. The company’s dealership network grew from 182 to over 385 locations, significantly strengthening BharatBenz’s national presence. Under his direction, DICV also became India’s first commercial vehicle manufacturer to operate fully on renewable energy and earned the IGBC Green Factory Building V2 certification for sustainability.

Arya has been instrumental in driving innovation at DICV. His tenure saw the introduction of EU-standard ECE R29-03 cabin safety compliance, as well as the launch of advanced models such as TorqShift (AMT) tippers and the HX Series. These milestones helped position BharatBenz as a leader in safety and technology within the Indian trucking landscape.

Commenting on the appointment, Arya said, “India’s commercial vehicle industry is on the brink of a transformative decade. At DICV, we’ve built a strong foundation and a culture of excellence that will continue to thrive. I’m honoured to take on this new responsibility with Hino Motors, a brand with over eight decades of heritage and innovation.”

Before leading DICV, Arya spent four years with Daimler Truck Asia in Japan, where he played a key role in driving organizational transformation. His experience in both Indian and international markets is expected to be pivotal as Hino Motors embarks on its next phase of global realignment.

Meanwhile, DICV’s succession plan is currently being finalized, with official announcements anticipated in the coming weeks. Arya’s appointment is subject to final board approvals and aligns with the formal launch of ARCHION on April 1, 2026.
