Celcius Logistics and Switch Mobility Launch India’s First Large-Scale Electric Refrigerated Fleet
Celcius Logistics has taken a major stride in sustainable cold chain operations by partnering with Switch Mobility, the electric vehicle arm of Ashok Leyland, to deploy 350 electric refrigerated light commercial vehicles (eLCVs) across India. The deal, valued at ₹100 crore, is the largest bulk order for eLCV-based refrigerated trucks in the country and signals a shift toward zero-emission logistics for temperature-sensitive goods.
The project, branded as Celcius Green, is a dedicated initiative to operate a fully electric refrigerated fleet for last-mile deliveries. With an initial investment of ₹50 crore, the venture will also cover infrastructure development, including charging stations, parking bays, and driver training facilities. Celcius Logistics has already rolled out 100 trucks, with the remaining 250 units scheduled to hit the roads by the end of FY26.
Swarup Bose, Founder and CEO of Celcius Logistics, highlighted the significance of the move: “Celcius Green is redefining cold chain logistics in India. By integrating electric vehicles and digital monitoring platforms, we aim to build a smarter, cleaner, and more efficient temperature-controlled delivery network.” The initiative comes after a successful pilot phase that drew strong interest from existing clients.
The 3.5-ton eLCVs from Switch Mobility are designed to maintain precise temperatures between -25°C and +25°C, catering to pharmaceuticals, dairy, frozen foods, fruits, vegetables, and seafood. Ganesh Mani, CEO of Switch Mobility, noted, “This partnership is a milestone for electric mobility in demanding logistics sectors. The SWITCH IeV Series ensures consistent cooling even when idling, reduces product loss, and offers a quieter, smoother ride.”
Celcius Green will initially operate in New Delhi, with subsequent rollouts in Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. Each vehicle has a 140 km range and is equipped with advanced features such as GPS tracking, smart temperature and humidity sensors, and predictive maintenance systems. The company plans lane-specific charging stations and EV-ready cold storage hubs along major logistics corridors to maximize uptime.
Financially, Celcius Green targets ₹50 crore in annual recurring revenue in its first year, with ambitions to scale to ₹250 crore within five years. By leveraging electric mobility for last-mile cold chain transport, the initiative aims to set a new industry benchmark in sustainability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness, while contributing to the decarbonisation of one of India’s most energy-intensive logistics segments.
