Attreyi Mukherjee Appointed as VP and Head Legal for Mahindra & Mahindra’s EV Division
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, one of India’s leading automobile manufacturers, has announced the appointment of Attreyi Mukherjee as Vice President and Head Legal for its rapidly expanding Electric Vehicle (EV) business. The appointment underscores the company’s commitment to enhancing its legal and governance framework as it advances its journey toward sustainable mobility.
Mukherjee, a seasoned legal professional with over two decades of experience, joins Mahindra & Mahindra after serving as General Counsel at Tata Industries. Over the years, she has built an extensive career within the Tata Group, where she managed complex legal mandates, strategic partnerships, and regulatory compliance across multiple sectors.
A dual-qualified lawyer, Mukherjee is licensed to practise in India as well as in England and Wales. Her expertise spans a wide range of areas including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, technology licensing, and corporate restructuring. She has also advised companies operating in diverse industries, including automotive, aviation, digital health, fintech, life sciences, e-commerce, and consumer products.
In her new role, Mukherjee will oversee all legal matters about Mahindra’s EV operations — a division that is witnessing accelerated growth amid India’s transition toward cleaner transportation. She will play a key role in shaping the company’s legal strategy, managing regulatory frameworks, and ensuring compliance across its domestic and international EV projects.
Commenting on her appointment, Mukherjee said, “I am delighted to take on this role at Mahindra & Mahindra. The EV sector is a dynamic and exciting space, and I look forward to contributing to its growth and exploring new opportunities in this field.”
Industry experts view her appointment as a strategic move by Mahindra & Mahindra to bolster its legal leadership during a pivotal phase of the company’s EV expansion. Her experience with cross-border transactions and technology-led ventures is expected to support Mahindra’s ambitions in electric mobility, innovation, and global collaborations.
Mahindra & Mahindra continues to position itself as a frontrunner in India’s electric vehicle landscape, and Mukherjee’s addition is set to strengthen its governance and legal capabilities as it steers toward a sustainable future.
