Apollo Tyres Launches Swasth Saarthi App, Marks 25 Years of Trucker Healthcare
Apollo Tyres has marked a major milestone by celebrating 25 years of its healthcare initiative for India’s trucking community with the launch of a new digital platform — the Swasth Saarthi app. This innovative step aims to bring healthcare support directly to truck drivers’ mobile phones, ensuring help is available on the go.
The company’s healthcare programme began in 2000 and has since provided medical assistance to lakhs of truck, bus, pickup, and mini-truck drivers through regular health camps and check-ups. The introduction of the Swasth Saarthi app represents Apollo Tyres’ move from physical health centres to digital solutions, reflecting its commitment to improving accessibility for those constantly on the road.
The app enables truckers to connect with doctors via video calls and locate nearby Apollo Healthcare Centres. In the first phase, around 10,000 truck drivers are expected to benefit from this initiative. Many drivers spend long hours travelling across states, often with limited access to medical facilities, and this app aims to provide quick and reliable medical help whenever needed.
Alongside the app launch, Apollo Tyres also unveiled a report titled “Truckers — The Backbone of Our Supply Chain.” The study found that 74% of truck drivers seek medical help during travel routes and that an equal percentage already use smartphones, highlighting the potential of digital healthcare for this segment.
Rajeev Kumar Sinha, Chief Manufacturing Officer at Apollo Tyres, said the company’s goal is to take healthcare beyond physical boundaries — from clinics to mobile units and now into the digital realm. He emphasized that Apollo’s One Family values reflect its deep care for the well-being of India’s trucking community.
Over the past 25 years, the Apollo Tyres Foundation has positively impacted more than 11 million individuals through over 1,000 health camps and 34 health centres across 21 states. These centres provide essential services, including eye check-ups, TB control, and treatment for chronic diseases.
What began as an HIV awareness project in partnership with DFID has now evolved into a comprehensive healthcare network addressing a range of medical needs for truckers.
The event also saw the presence of Rajesh Dahiya, Vice President (Commercial), Apollo Tyres, and Shri Kultaran Singh Atwal, former President of All India Motor Transport Congress.
With Swasth Saarthi, Apollo Tyres continues its journey of care, driving health support from India’s highways to the digital road ahead.
