Scania Launches SUPER Truck Range in India with 13-Litre Powertrain
Swedish truckmaker Scania has unveiled its new SUPER series of heavy-duty trucks in India, featuring a 13-litre powertrain that promises over 10% fuel savings compared to its earlier models. The company highlighted that the new range also cuts emissions and boosts vehicle uptime, aligning with growing demand for efficiency in commercial transport.
The SUPER range is powered by a gearbox engineered to deliver 2,800 Nm to 3,800 Nm torque, allowing for smoother gear shifts and improved component durability. Another standout innovation is the fuel optimization system, which enhances usable fuel tank capacity to 97%, extending driving range and cutting down turnaround times for fleet operators.
“SUPER is built around what matters most to you—fuel efficiency, uptime, and cost savings that directly improve profitability,” said Silvio Munhoz, Managing Director, Scania Commercial Vehicles India. He added that the new series comes with integrated service and financing solutions.
Targeting the mining, construction, and long-haul sectors, Scania stressed that the SUPER trucks have been extensively tested to suit Indian operating conditions.
Scania has been present in India since 2007 and set up its Narasapura manufacturing facility in 2011, spread across 37 acres with a 125,794 sq. ft. production centre. The company also operates a warehouse in Nagpur to support its nationwide service network.
While pricing details remain undisclosed, the SUPER range is now open for bookings with multiple customization options to meet specific customer needs.
Globally, Scania Commercial Vehicles AB employs nearly 50,000 people across 100+ countries and also produces engines for industrial, marine, and power generation applications.
