Montra Electric’s Rhino Truck Clocks 1.2 Crore Km in Two Years, Cuts 3.79 Million Tons of CO₂

Montra Electric’s flagship heavy-duty EV, the Rhino 5538EV, has achieved a major milestone by crossing 1.2 crore kilometres on Indian roads within just two years of its launch. The fleet of 350 trucks has collectively reduced over 3.79 million tons of CO₂ emissions, showcasing the potential of electric mobility in heavy transport and logistics.

A Landmark in India’s Heavy EV Adoption

The Rhino 5538EV is India’s first 55-ton GCW (Gross Combination Weight) electric truck. Since entering the market, it has achieved an impressive uptime of 98%, even under demanding industrial conditions. The trucks are widely deployed in the steel, cement, and port logistics sectors, where companies have placed repeat orders after witnessing performance and cost savings.

“This milestone is a powerful validation of India’s transition to clean mobility. With the Rhino 5538EV, we are proving that electric heavy transport isn’t a distant future—it’s already here. Our focus remains on delivering sustainable, cost-efficient logistics backed by innovation with purpose,” said Jalaj Gupta, Managing Director of Montra Electric.

Environmental and Economic Impact

The CO₂ reduction from the Rhino fleet is equivalent to the carbon absorption of nearly 181 million trees. Beyond environmental gains, fleet operators benefit from fuel cost savings, lower maintenance expenses, and compliance with decarbonisation goals, making the trucks attractive both financially and operationally.
