BharatBenz Opens Silchar Workshop to Boost Fleet Uptime
Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) has expanded its BharatBenz service network with the launch of a new 30,000 sq. ft. workshop in Silchar, Assam. Developed in collaboration with PPS Trucking, the facility is designed to improve vehicle uptime and strengthen commercial transport efficiency across the Northeast region.
Strategically positioned along the Silchar Bypass near ISBT on NH 37, the workshop supports key logistics routes connecting Assam with Manipur and Mizoram. The launch comes at a time when regional infrastructure and industrial activity are rapidly expanding, increasing demand for reliable commercial vehicle support.
Advanced Service Facility Built for Faster Turnaround
The new BharatBenz workshop in Silchar is equipped with modern service infrastructure aimed at reducing downtime for fleet operators operating in challenging terrains.
The facility features eight fully equipped service bays with the capacity to service up to 3,000 vehicles annually. It is staffed by 32 certified technicians trained to handle advanced diagnostics and repairs, ensuring faster and more accurate servicing.
To further improve operational efficiency, the workshop includes advanced diagnostic systems and a dedicated fleet of 24/7 roadside assistance vans. This ensures breakdown support across critical logistics corridors, helping businesses maintain continuous operations.
The centre also plays a key role in supporting industrial and infrastructure-driven demand in the Barak Valley region, especially from sectors such as limestone mining and long-haul cargo transport.
Strengthening Customer Support and Regional Connectivity
The Silchar facility has been developed to enhance overall customer experience beyond just vehicle repair and maintenance. It includes dedicated rest areas for drivers, reinforcing comfort during long-haul operations in difficult terrain.
According to DICV leadership, the focus remains on reducing total cost of ownership and improving fleet efficiency through preventive maintenance and faster service response times. The partnership with PPS Trucking further strengthens service reach across Tripura, Manipur, and Mizoram, ensuring better coverage in remote and high-demand routes.
With growing infrastructure initiatives such as Asom Mala 3.0, the region is witnessing increased movement of commercial vehicles, making timely service support more critical than ever.
Strategic Step for Operational Efficiency in Northeast
The launch of the BharatBenz workshop in Silchar marks a significant advancement in strengthening commercial vehicle support infrastructure in Northeast India. By combining advanced diagnostic capabilities with localized operational expertise through PPS Trucking, the facility is set to improve uptime, reduce delays, and support growing logistics demand across the region’s key transport corridors.
