JSW MG Motor Appoints Supply Chain Director Amid EV Expansion Plans
JSW MG Motor Appoints Supply Chain Director as part of its strategy to build a robust and future-ready procurement ecosystem. Amit Rana brings extensive experience from leading automotive companies such as Tata Motors and Hero MotoCorp, where he handled key roles in procurement and supply chain management.
In his statement, Rana highlighted that his focus will be on creating a technology-driven procurement system that supports the company’s transition towards a new-energy future. His appointment is expected to play a crucial role as JSW MG Motor India scales its operations and strengthens its supply chain capabilities.
Focus on new energy vehicles and growth
The company is gearing up for a major transformation, with plans to launch around six new models between 2026 and 2027. A significant portion of these upcoming vehicles will include electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids.
JSW MG Motor India aims to become a new-energy-led brand, with nearly 75% of its future sales expected to come from EVs and hybrid models. This shift makes supply chain efficiency and procurement strategy critical for maintaining cost competitiveness and ensuring timely production.
Targeted product strategy and localisation
Instead of expanding aggressively across all segments, JSW MG Motor India is following a focused approach by identifying gaps in the market and introducing products accordingly. This targeted strategy allows the company to optimize resources while strengthening its position in key segments.
At the same time, the company is increasing localisation efforts to reduce dependency on imports and improve supply chain resilience. A strong procurement system will be essential to support this transition.
Sales momentum and recent developments
JSW MG Motor India has been witnessing steady growth in the Indian market. The company reported wholesales of 4,957 units in February 2026, reflecting a 24% year-on-year increase. Demand remains stable across both internal combustion engine and electric vehicle portfolios.
In addition to leadership changes and growth plans, the company recently expanded its product lineup with the launch of the MG Majestor, a premium D+ segment SUV designed for off-road capabilities.
