The Eicher 72 seater buses at BITM Ballari are becoming a key part of the institution’s student transport system as the engineering and management college continues to expand its mobility operations. Located in Karnataka, the Ballari Institute of Technology and Management has been upgrading its fleet to manage growing student strength across multiple campuses efficiently.

The shift towards higher-capacity buses reflects the institution’s focus on improving transport efficiency while controlling long-term operational costs.

Large-Capacity Eicher 72 Seater Buses Support Campus Mobility

The introduction of Eicher 72 seater buses at BITM Ballari was driven by the need to move a large number of students in fewer trips. The institution currently runs a fleet of nearly 50 buses, covering daily routes of 70 to 80 kilometres across Ballari and surrounding regions.

Instead of increasing fleet size, BITM focused on optimising capacity per vehicle. The Eicher 72-seater configuration, featuring a wider body structure and 3+2 seating layout, emerged as a practical solution for high-density student transport.

The college initially tested the buses under real operating conditions before scaling up deployment. Following the trial phase, additional units were gradually added as performance and efficiency met expectations.

Today, the fleet is almost evenly divided between Eicher buses and other established brands, reflecting a balanced procurement strategy aimed at operational reliability.

Efficiency Gains Drive Institutional Fleet Strategy

For BITM, the use of Eicher 72 seater buses at BITM Ballari has improved passenger movement efficiency by reducing the number of trips required for daily commuting. This has helped streamline transport scheduling and reduce overall operational load.

Institution leadership has emphasised that vehicle selection is based not only on capacity but also on long-term service support and durability. Reliable after-sales assistance plays an important role in maintaining uninterrupted transport operations.

The wider seating layout has also helped the institution transport more students per trip, directly contributing to better fuel and resource utilisation.

Expansion Plans Align with Growing Student Base

The growing relevance of Eicher 72 seater buses at BITM Ballari comes at a time when the institution is expanding its academic footprint. BITM currently educates around 5,200 students across engineering, management and technology disciplines.

Alongside BITM, the Basavarajeshwari Group has also launched Kishkindha University on a 50-acre campus near Ballari, further increasing transport requirements across the group.

With rising student intake, the institution is now evaluating the addition of nearly 25 more buses in the coming years to strengthen its transport network.

Future procurement is expected to continue prioritising high-capacity, cost-efficient vehicles that can support large-scale academic mobility.
