Atlas Copco Launches Cordless XB Assembly Tools for Smart Manufacturing

Atlas Copco has unveiled its new XB range of cordless nut runners in India, aimed at supporting the growing smart manufacturing sector. The launch, held at the company’s Pune facility, introduces two all-electric tools designed to improve tightening accuracy, operator mobility, and assembly efficiency across industrial manufacturing environments.

XB Range: Tools for Diverse Assembly Needs

The XB series comprises two models suited for different assembly requirements:

XCB Mechanical Clutch Tool

The XCB is a mechanical clutch model built for standard assembly applications. It includes re-hit detection and is engineered to reduce reaction forces, making repetitive joint tightening more comfortable and precise.

XTB Torque Transducer Tool

The XTB features a torque transducer and is intended for quality-critical environments. It supports multiple tightening programs, torque control, and angle monitoring, allowing manufacturers to handle assemblies with varying joint stiffness and torque requirements. Both models are positioned as entry-level options for manufacturers integrating digital assembly practices.

Designed for Immediate Deployment and Precision

Atlas Copco emphasizes that the XB tools are ready for instant use. Operators simply insert the battery, configure torque settings via the onboard Human Machine Interface (HMI), and begin work without additional setup. The HMI provides real-time OK/NOK feedback to support tightening accuracy, ensuring consistent quality across production lines.

Ergonomic and Cordless Design

Both models feature lightweight construction, ergonomic handles, and a balanced form factor. The cordless design allows operators to move across workstations and access confined spaces without the limitations of tethered equipment. This flexibility enhances productivity and reduces fatigue during prolonged assembly tasks.

Supporting Sustainable and Efficient Manufacturing

Chandrashekhar Pathak, General Manager of Industrial Technique at Atlas Copco (India) Pvt. Ltd., highlighted that the XB range reflects the company’s focus on combining precision engineering with digital capabilities. The tools are intended to help manufacturers improve both quality and productivity while supporting the transition toward sustainable manufacturing practices.

Atlas Copco (India) Pvt. Ltd. has been operating in India since 1960, with its registered office in Pune. For the fiscal year ending March 2025, the company reported revenues of approximately INR 5,790 crore and employs over 3,800 people across its Indian operations.

The launch of Atlas Copco’s XB cordless nut runners marks a significant step in modernizing assembly operations in India. With features like ergonomic design, real-time feedback, torque control, and cordless mobility, the XB tools empower manufacturers to improve precision, efficiency, and sustainability in their production processes.
