ThunderPlus Partners With Evey Trans Vijayawada Hub
ThunderPlus, a leading EV charging network operator, and Evey Trans Private Limited, an electric bus fleet company, have announced a strategic partnership to establish a high-capacity EV charging hub near Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. The facility, located at Kunchanapalli, Tadepalli, will span one acre with a total installed capacity of 1.6 MW, featuring seven DC fast chargers, battery swapping infrastructure, and fast charging stations for two-wheelers. Designed to accommodate over 50 electric buses and 100 electric cars simultaneously, the hub is among the largest charging facilities in Andhra Pradesh.
Strategic Location Along Hyderabad–Vijayawada Corridor
Serving High-Traffic Intercity Routes
The Kunchanapalli hub is strategically positioned along the Hyderabad–Vijayawada corridor, one of South India’s busiest intercity transport routes. The location will serve electric buses operating between Vijayawada and other cities, freight operators, and private EV users making long-distance trips.
Supporting Commercial and Private Fleet Operations
With Evey Trans operating approximately 3,300 electric buses across more than 50 cities, reliable high-capacity charging infrastructure is critical. The hub will reduce downtime for fleet operators while enabling smooth operations across intercity and interstate routes.
Integrated EV Operations and Fleet Facilities
Comprehensive On-Site Infrastructure
Beyond charging equipment, the facility will include bus servicing and repair bays, spare parts storage, vehicle washing zones, driver boarding and rest areas, and a driver training area. These features are aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and supporting uninterrupted fleet deployment.
High-Throughput Charging for Multiple Vehicle Types
The hub’s seven DC fast chargers, alongside battery swapping facilities and two-wheeler charging stations, will allow simultaneous charging for buses, cars, and two-wheelers. This capacity positions the facility as one of the largest multi-vehicle EV charging hubs in the state.
Industry Perspective and Growth Potential
Strengthening India’s EV Infrastructure
Rajeev YSR, ED and CEO of ThunderPlus, highlighted that partnerships with fleet operators enable high-capacity deployments that add significant value to India’s EV infrastructure. “Together, we are co-developing ultra-fast charging hubs that align with commercial and passenger mobility needs,” he said.
Plans for Expansion Across Strategic Corridors
Sandeep Raizada, CEO of Evey Trans, indicated that the Vijayawada hub will be the first of several high-capacity charging facilities across India. These hubs aim to support buses, trucks, two-wheelers, and passenger vehicles along key transport routes.
Addressing Long-Distance EV Challenges
Industry observers note that while India’s EV adoption has grown, intercity travel has been constrained by limited fast-charging infrastructure outside urban centres. Projects like the Kunchanapalli hub are expected to bridge this gap, making long-distance electric mobility feasible for both commercial and private operators.
The ThunderPlus–Evey Trans partnership marks a major step in developing India’s EV infrastructure along high-traffic corridors. By integrating fast charging, battery swapping, and fleet support facilities, the Vijayawada hub will improve operational efficiency, reduce downtime, and support the growing electric mobility ecosystem in Andhra Pradesh and beyond.
