Sakhi Auto Service Launched In Bengaluru For Women Safety

Sakhi Auto Service has officially begun operations in Bengaluru, introducing a women only auto rickshaw initiative aimed at making city travel safer and more comfortable. Launched on 14 February 2026, the service was founded by 24 year old entrepreneur Krishnavi Parekh. Built on a by women for women model, the initiative ensures that both drivers and passengers are women, directly addressing safety concerns faced by female commuters in urban areas.

In a rapidly growing city like Bengaluru, thousands of women travel daily for work, education and personal commitments. However, early morning and late night commutes often come with hesitation due to safety worries. Sakhi Auto Service seeks to reduce this fear by creating a trusted and secure public transport alternative within the 3 wheeler auto segment.

How Sakhi Auto Service Works

Currently operating with 50 trained female drivers aged between 21 and 40 years, Sakhi Auto Service focuses on professional standards and passenger comfort. Before the official launch, a pilot run was conducted and received positive feedback from riders who appreciated punctuality, respectful behaviour and transparent pricing.

The key features of Sakhi Auto Service include:

  • Women only drivers and passengers
  • Fixed and transparent fare system starting at Rs 50 for first 2 km and Rs 20 per km thereafter
  • No surge pricing during rain or peak hours
  • Booking through ride.sakhiwomen.in or WhatsApp at 6361933364
  • Service available from early morning until midnight, with plans for 24 hour expansion

A dedicated mobile application is also under development to enhance ride tracking and convenience. According to founder Krishnavi Parekh, several commuters have already expressed interest in subscription based bookings for regular office travel, reflecting strong early demand.

Why Women Only Transport Matters

Urban mobility experiences differ significantly for women. Concerns related to harassment, overcharging or uncomfortable journeys often limit travel choices. Sakhi Auto Service addresses these issues by ensuring a sense of familiarity and trust when both the driver and passenger are women.

This approach not only improves passenger safety but also creates employment opportunities in a sector traditionally dominated by men. For many women drivers, operating a commercial 3 wheeler auto offers financial independence and a stable source of income. The initiative therefore combines safety with economic empowerment.

By integrating structured training and safety protocols, Sakhi Auto Service strengthens confidence among riders. It also contributes to Bengaluru’s broader transport ecosystem, where autos play a crucial role in last mile connectivity.

Impact And Future Outlook

The launch of Sakhi Auto Service adds a new dimension to the city’s commercial vehicle landscape. While initial operations are limited to 50 drivers, plans are in place to expand the fleet and onboard more women. Scaling operations while maintaining strict safety standards will be essential in the coming months.

Challenges such as peak hour availability and full day service expansion remain, but the strong public response suggests promising growth potential. Sakhi Auto Service represents more than just an auto ride. It stands as a step toward safer transportation, greater workforce participation for women and a more inclusive urban mobility model in Bengaluru.
