Nitin Gadkari Unveils RAJMARG PRAVESH Portal for National Highways
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has launched the upgraded RAJMARG PRAVESH portal, a centralised digital platform that streamlines the process of obtaining No Objection Certificates (NOCs) and related permissions along India’s National Highways. The launch was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the National Highways Authority of India, and the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited.
The portal is designed to serve citizens, commercial enterprises, and government agencies, providing a single interface for approvals related to highway access, utility laying, and wayside facility development. As India’s National Highway network continues to expand, the number of applications for permissions has surged, necessitating a more efficient and transparent digital solution.
Consolidated Online Approvals for Multiple Permissions
RAJMARG PRAVESH brings previously fragmented approval processes under one platform. Applicants can now submit requests for:
- Highway access to private properties, industrial sites, fuel stations, and rest area complexes
- Laying of utilities, including water and gas pipelines, optical fibre cables, and electrical lines along or across highways
- Construction of wayside amenities and connecting roads
By integrating these services, the portal eliminates the need for manual coordination with regional highway offices, reduces delays, and allows applicants to track their submissions in real-time.
Time-Bound Processing and Enhanced Transparency
A key feature of the portal is its time-bound approval mechanism. Each application follows a structured workflow with defined timelines, helping to reduce delays that can impact infrastructure, commercial, and utility projects. Applicants can upload supporting documents, pay fees online, and receive updates on the status of their applications.
This approach improves transparency by making the approval process visible to users and ensures accountability at every stage. The portal also generates a documented record of applications and decisions, which can support administrative planning and future policy development.
Supporting Infrastructure Growth and Business Ease
The RAJMARG PRAVESH portal benefits a wide range of stakeholders. Small businesses planning wayside facilities, telecom operators laying fibre-optic cables, and state government agencies requiring utility crossings can all efficiently obtain permissions online. The platform is also expected to support smoother project execution along highway corridors, where delays in approvals have historically affected timelines and budgets.
By centralising and digitising approvals for access, utilities, and wayside amenities, RAJMARG PRAVESH represents a significant step toward improving ease of doing business in India. It aligns with the government’s goal of faster, more efficient, and transparent infrastructure management while supporting the continued expansion and modernisation of the National Highway network.
