Neuton Electric Bus Arrives in Mangaluru for Private Operations

 Arrival of Neuton Electric Bus

Mangaluru has received its first electric bus from Neuton Auto, marking the entry of a privately operated e-bus in the city. The 9-metre fully air-conditioned vehicle was transported from Pune and is set to begin operations soon. This arrival represents a step forward in Mangaluru’s transition toward cleaner urban mobility.

Features and Capacity

The bus is designed for intra-city routes and has a seating capacity of 37 passengers. Key features include:

  • Full air-conditioning for passenger comfort
  • CCTV cameras for onboard monitoring and safety
  • Compact 9-metre design suitable for city roads

These features make it an ideal choice for urban transport while ensuring passenger security and convenience.

Private Operations and Fleet Details

Unlike government-run electric buses, this vehicle is privately owned by Ganesh Prasad Travels and will operate on Route Number 27, connecting Mangaladevi and State Bank. A trained company driver will conduct operational guidance and familiarisation sessions before commercial operations begin.

The private operator is reportedly planning to expand its electric bus fleet, with expectations of 20–25 buses in the future. The official launch date for the service is yet to be announced.

Significance for Mangaluru

The arrival of the Neuton electric bus highlights the growing interest of private operators in adopting electric mobility solutions in Karnataka’s coastal city. With advanced features and sustainable design, the bus contributes to the gradual expansion of eco-friendly public transport options in Mangaluru.
