Bajaj Leads Electric 3-Wheeler Sales January 2026
The Indian electric three-wheeler segment kicked off 2026 on a high note, with a total of 75,767 units sold in January, marking a 26.43% year-on-year growth from 59,930 units in January 2025, according to the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA).
Bajaj Auto Maintains Market Leadership
Bajaj Auto led the pack, selling 8,510 electric three-wheelers in January 2026. This represents a robust 58.86% YoY growth from 5,357 units sold in January 2025. On a month-on-month basis, Bajaj registered a 13.18% growth compared to 7,519 units sold in December 2025, solidifying its dominant position in the segment.
Mahindra Shows Steady Growth
Mahindra’s electric three-wheelers also performed well, with retail sales rising 21.85% YoY from 6,146 units in January 2025 to 7,489 units in January 2026. However, this reflects a 7.66% decline from December 2025, when 8,110 units were sold.
TVS Motors Achieves Exceptional YoY Growth
TVS Motors recorded a striking 1,909.77% YoY increase, selling 2,673 units in January 2026, up from just 133 units in January 2025. Despite this impressive annual growth, the company saw a slight 7.48% drop compared to December 2025 sales of 2,889 units.
Other Top Performers
Indo Wagen rose to fourth place with a 196.45% YoY increase, selling 2,422 units in January 2026, though it faced a 40.49% month-on-month decline. Aahana EV and Milyf recorded strong YoY gains of 252.43% and 385.66%, respectively, while Hooghly Motors surged 347.49% YoY.
On the downside, YC Electric Vehicle experienced a 37.76% YoY drop to 2,415 units, CityLife Electric Vehicles slightly declined by 0.47% YoY, and Saera Electric Auto’s sales fell 28.93% YoY. Piaggio, Terra Motors, and Mini Metro EV also reported month-on-month sales dips.
Market Outlook
The January 2026 electric 3-wheeler market reflects both strong growth among leading brands and challenges for smaller players. Bajaj Auto continues to dominate with a commanding share, while brands like Mahindra, TVS, and Indo Wagen show significant growth potential.
Despite some monthly fluctuations, the overall segment shows healthy momentum, driven by rising demand for eco-friendly last-mile mobility solutions and increasing adoption of electric powertrains across Indian cities.
