Tata Motors Launches Ultra E.12 Electric Truck Nationwide

Tata Motors has deepened its presence in the electric commercial vehicle segment with the launch of the Tata Ultra E.12 truck, a vehicle designed to meet the evolving demands of modern logistics and urban transport. As businesses look for cleaner and more cost-efficient mobility solutions amid rising fuel prices, the company is positioning this new electric truck as a practical and powerful alternative for fleet operators. The Ultra E.12 is built to balance performance, safety, and sustainability, making it suitable for both city operations and medium-range transportation.

Powertrain and Real-World Driving Range

At the core of the Ultra E.12 is a high-performance electric powertrain that delivers 335 HP and 950 Nm of torque, ensuring strong pulling capability for its class. Tata Motors has equipped the truck with an integrated motor generator featuring an IPM (Interior Permanent Magnet) machine, which enhances driving smoothness, energy efficiency, and overall performance stability.

The truck offers a flexible driving range of approximately 120 km to 350 km on a single charge, depending on battery configuration, load conditions, and route patterns. Battery capacity options start from 96 kWh and go up to 300 kWh, allowing fleet owners to choose a setup based on their operational needs. To reduce downtime, the Ultra E.12 supports fast charging, taking around two hours to reach optimal charge levels, making it viable for daily commercial use.

Payload, Build, and Driver-Centric Cabin

Designed for practical cargo movement, the Tata Ultra E.12 comes with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of 11,900 kg. When fitted with a container body, it can carry a payload of up to 6,400 kg, making it suitable for a wide range of logistics, e-commerce, and distribution applications.

Tata Motors has also focused on driver comfort with a refreshed Ultra cabin that measures 2.2 meters in width. The spacious and ergonomically designed cabin aims to reduce fatigue during long working hours while improving visibility and control. This reflects the company’s broader approach of combining operational efficiency with a better driving experience.

Advanced Safety and Smart Features

Safety remains a priority in the Ultra E.12, which is equipped with ADAS Level 2 (Advanced Driver Assistance System). This includes features that support the driver in real-time, improving road safety and reducing the risk of accidents—an increasingly important aspect in modern commercial vehicles.

The truck uses a Li-ion battery, known for its reliability, durability, and consistent performance over time. Along with its robust build and intelligent systems, the Ultra E.12 demonstrates that electric trucks are not just about cutting fuel costs but also about safer and smarter transportation.

With the Ultra E.12, Tata Motors is reinforcing its commitment to electric mobility in the commercial vehicle space, offering businesses a capable, efficient, and future-ready transport solution.
