Kia India Expands EV Charging Network with BPCL

Kia-BPCL Partnership to Strengthen India’s EV Charging Backbone

Kia India has taken a major step toward accelerating electric mobility adoption by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) to significantly expand its public electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across the country. The collaboration will integrate more than 3,000 BPCL charging points into Kia’s K-Charge ecosystem, taking the total network beyond 15,000 touchpoints nationwide.

The agreement was formalised at India Energy Week 2026 in Goa, highlighting the growing synergy between automakers and energy companies in building a robust EV support system. With charging accessibility remaining one of the biggest concerns for potential EV buyers, this partnership aims to make long-distance and daily electric travel more seamless.

Tackling Range Anxiety Through Wider Accessibility

Addressing concerns around range anxiety, Kia India emphasised that convenience and reliability are crucial for mass EV adoption. Atul Sood, Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Kia India, stated that expanding the charging network would make EV ownership more practical and stress-free for consumers.

By strategically adding BPCL charging points across key urban centres, highways, and inter-city routes, Kia aims to ensure that its customers have reliable access to charging infrastructure wherever they travel. This move aligns with the broader industry push to eliminate infrastructure gaps that have slowed EV uptake in India.

Smart and Connected Charging via K-Charge

Kia’s K-Charge platform plays a central role in this expansion. Accessible through the MyKia App and Kia India’s official website, the system allows users to locate nearby charging stations, plan navigation routes, and make digital payments through a single integrated interface.

The enhanced network is expected to improve user experience by reducing wait times, simplifying transactions, and offering real-time information on charger availability. This digital-first approach positions Kia as a tech-driven EV brand rather than just a traditional automaker.

Kia’s Expanding Electric Portfolio in India

The charging infrastructure push comes as Kia India strengthens its electric vehicle lineup. The company recently introduced the Carens Clavis EV, its first made-in-India electric model featuring a spacious 7-seater configuration tailored for family and fleet use.

In addition, Kia continues to offer its globally acclaimed EV6 and flagship EV9 models in the Indian market, catering to premium EV buyers. With this diversified portfolio, Kia is targeting both mass-market and luxury segments within India’s evolving EV ecosystem.

Strong Manufacturing and Market Presence

Kia India operates a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Anantapur District, Andhra Pradesh, with an annual production capacity of 300,000 units. Since commencing operations, the company has dispatched around 1.5 million vehicles, including over 1.3 million domestic sales and more than 367,000 exports.

Beyond manufacturing, Kia has built a widespread retail and service footprint, currently operating 841 touchpoints across 376 cities. The brand also boasts more than 500,000 connected cars on Indian roads, reinforcing its position as a digitally advanced automaker.

Charging Infrastructure as a Catalyst for EV Growth

The partnership with BPCL underscores Kia India’s long-term commitment to sustainable mobility. By investing in charging infrastructure alongside vehicle development, the company is helping create an ecosystem that supports a smooth transition to electric transportation.

As India moves toward cleaner mobility solutions, collaborations like this between automakers and energy providers will play a crucial role in shaping the future of transportation. Kia’s latest initiative positions it as a key contributor to India’s growing EV landscape.
