Gujarat to Upgrade Roads with Over Rs 1,078 Crore
In a major push to enhance infrastructure, the Union government has approved Rs 1,078.13 crore from the Central Road Infrastructure Fund for road improvement projects across Gujarat. The decision was announced following a high-level review meeting in Gandhinagar on November 25, 2025, attended by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari.
41 Projects Covering Over 564 Kilometres
The sanctioned funds will support 41 projects spanning a total length of 564.57 km across multiple districts of the state. These initiatives include road widening, strengthening, resurfacing, and construction of essential supporting structures. Officials emphasized that the projects aim to improve road quality, enhance safety, and strengthen regional connectivity.
Widening, Strengthening, and Structural Works
Out of the total allocation, Rs 636 crore has been earmarked for 11 highway widening projects covering 229.20 km in districts such as Patan, Kutch, Banaskantha, Kheda, Mahisagar, Chhota Udepur, Valsad, Amreli, Jamnagar, and Vadodara.
An additional Rs 408.33 crore will fund 23 strengthening and resurfacing projects spanning 335.37 km in Ahmedabad, Kheda, Anand, Aravalli, Mahisagar, Tapi, Navsari, Devbhumi Dwarka, Surendranagar, Amreli, Surat, and Jamnagar. A further Rs 33.80 crore has been allocated for seven structural projects in Tapi, Surat, and Dang districts.
PM Gati Shakti Alignment
Officials noted that these road projects are aligned with the Centre’s broader objectives under the PM Gati Shakti initiative, which seeks to improve national connectivity and accelerate logistics. The investment is part of a wider push to create a modern, high-quality road network that supports efficient mobility and reduces travel time.
Boosting Economic Growth and Supply Chains
State authorities highlighted the economic benefits of the investment, stating that improved roads will support industrial operations and agricultural supply chains, facilitating smoother transportation of goods across the state. Enhanced connectivity is expected to strengthen Gujarat’s overall economic growth while improving the efficiency of logistics networks.
