UP Launches Lucknow Darshan Electric Double-Decker Bus
Uttar Pradesh is taking a significant step to redefine tourism in its capital with the launch of the ‘Lucknow Darshan’ electric double-decker bus service. Flagged off by Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh from 1090 Chauraha—a landmark representing women’s safety and empowerment—the initiative aims to provide visitors a unique way to explore the city’s rich cultural and historical heritage.
The launch aligns with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision of inclusive and responsible tourism, blending heritage exploration with social awareness. According to the state’s information department, the service highlights not only Lucknow’s architectural and cultural landmarks but also the government’s commitment to public safety, sustainable development, and good governance.
“Lucknow Darshan offers tourists an opportunity to experience the city’s history and culture while also appreciating the state’s emphasis on social responsibility and safety. Our aim is to present Lucknow not just as a heritage city but as a model of progressive governance,” a press release from the UP Tourism Department stated.
The service offers two curated tour packages: a morning tour from 8:30 am to 11:30 am, and an evening tour from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Tickets are priced at ₹400 for children aged 5–12 years and ₹500 for individuals above 12 years, and include light refreshments. Tourists can also benefit from a 10% discount on bookings made until January 31st. Tickets are available online through the Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation’s official website upstdc.co.in.
The electric double-decker buses not only offer a comfortable and scenic way to see Lucknow but also underscore the state’s commitment to environment-friendly tourism. By integrating sustainable travel with curated cultural experiences, the initiative positions Lucknow as a prominent destination for both domestic and international tourists.
Tourism experts say that services like Lucknow Darshan are likely to attract larger crowds, boost local businesses, and strengthen the city’s image as a hub of heritage, culture, and governance excellence. As UP pushes forward with such initiatives, it continues to set a benchmark for innovative tourism models in India.
With Lucknow Darshan, visitors can now experience the city’s famed mughal-inspired architecture, historic monuments, and vibrant culture, all from the comfort of a modern electric bus, making it a must-visit attraction for travelers in the region.
