Eicher Pro X 3.5T Diesel TCO, Performance And Features Explained
Eicher Trucks has positioned the Pro X 3.5T Diesel as a high-uptime, business-focused mini truck aimed at fleet owners and cargo operators seeking long-term profitability. Designed with heavy-duty aggregates and a robust powertrain, the model targets multiple urban and intercity applications while maintaining a competitive total cost of ownership over extended usage cycles.
The Eicher Pro X 3.5T Diesel is built to handle diverse cargo requirements, ranging from fruits and vegetables, FMCG goods and parcels to water cans, auto components and light machinery. Its strong chassis construction, reinforced load body architecture and solid axle configuration allow it to support bulky and heavy cargo efficiently. These characteristics make the vehicle suitable for both short-haul distribution and longer lead operations.
From a cost perspective, the vehicle’s total cost of ownership over a 10-year period offers valuable insights for commercial buyers. With an ex-showroom price of approximately Rs 8.85 lakh, the truck is assumed to operate daily at an average of 300 km, translating to nearly 4.32 lakh kilometres over a decade. With a claimed fuel efficiency of 14 kmpl, total fuel consumption across this duration stands at around 30,857 litres. At a diesel price of Rs 87.67 per litre, fuel expenses alone amount to approximately Rs 27.05 lakh.
Service costs are estimated at Rs 84,000 over 10 years, considering 14 scheduled services at intervals of 30,000 km. Insurance, tax and RTO charges are pegged at around Rs 50,000. When all fixed and running costs are combined, the total expenditure over 10 years reaches roughly Rs 14.51 lakh, resulting in an estimated operating cost of Rs 3.4 per kilometre. This cost structure positions the Pro X 3.5T Diesel as a financially viable option for small and mid-sized fleet operators.
Performance is delivered by Eicher’s E449, four-cylinder diesel engine producing 80 hp at 3,200 rpm and 230 Nm of torque between 1,250 and 2,400 rpm. Paired with a 5-speed synchromesh gearbox, the engine prioritises torque delivery at lower rpm levels, improving drivability under load. Unlike many competitors using three-cylinder units, the four-cylinder layout enables smoother combustion and improved efficiency.
Suspension duties are handled by semi-elliptical leaf springs at both ends, offering strong load-bearing capability and stable highway behaviour. Braking is managed through front disc brakes and rear drum brakes, designed for consistent stopping performance under varied operating conditions. The truck also rides on 178R15 radial tyres and carries a 60-litre fuel tank.
With a maximum payload capacity of 1,862 kg and safety features such as driver state monitoring, cargo surveillance camera, remote engine immobiliser, digital cargo lock and reverse camera, the Eicher Pro X 3.5T Diesel combines performance, safety and uptime. Backed by a 3-year or 1 lakh km warranty, 24×7 service support and telematics integration, the model emerges as a strong contender in India’s light commercial vehicle segment.
