2025 Caterpillar 785D Dump Truck Sets New Standards in Power, Payload & Fuel Efficiency

Caterpillar has refreshed its lineup of heavy-duty mining trucks with the 2025 edition of the 785D, a model that continues to be one of the most trusted machines in large-scale mining and earth-moving environments. Equipped with enhanced power, improved fuel management and upgraded operator-focused features, the latest 785D aims to raise performance benchmarks for high-capacity hauling operations worldwide.

The truck is powered by Caterpillar’s 3512C HD diesel engine, delivering 1,450 hp gross and 1,348 hp net, making it one of the strongest performers in its category. The high-torque output is engineered to support steep gradients and challenging sites while maintaining consistent power delivery. Caterpillar has also reworked the combustion and cooling systems to ensure efficiency under extreme temperature variations, high altitudes and heavy load cycles. With a payload rating of 145 tons, the 785D targets large mining operations where moving massive volumes efficiently is critical.
