JBM Electric Vehicles Unveils ECOLIFE e12 at Busworld 2025

Indian electric bus manufacturer JBM Electric Vehicles made a strong international statement at Busworld 2025 in Brussels, unveiling its all-new ECOLIFE e12—a next-generation electric city bus offering a range of up to 400 kilometres on a single charge. The launch underscores the company’s commitment to advancing sustainable urban mobility while expanding its presence across the European market.

Led by Nishant Arya, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of the JBM Group, the debut of the ECOLIFE e12 represents a major milestone in the company’s global journey. Arya described the launch as “a reflection of India’s growing strength in clean mobility solutions and a step toward a zero-emission future.”

Smart Design Meets Sustainability

The ECOLIFE e12 combines cutting-edge engineering with eco-conscious materials. Its lightweight monocoque stainless steel body enhances structural integrity while reducing energy consumption. Inside, passengers experience a sustainable interior—seats crafted from recycled materials and upholstery made from recycled yarn fabrics, aligning with the company’s environmental vision.

Beyond its sustainable construction, the ECOLIFE e12 is built for safety and intelligence. It integrates an Advanced Driver-Assistance System (ADAS), along with an Advanced Emergency Braking System (AEBS), Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Detection, and a 360-degree camera—ensuring higher protection for both passengers and pedestrians.

The bus also meets EU Intelligent Transport System (ITS) standards and features advanced telematics for real-time health monitoring, enabling predictive maintenance and minimal downtime.

European Expansion and Future Growth

In a parallel announcement, JBM Electric Vehicles revealed the opening of its European headquarters in Frankfurt, Germany. The new facility will serve as a regional base for marketing, sales, after-sales services, and partnerships across EU markets. The move positions JBM among the few Indian EV companies with a dedicated European base.

Globally, JBM has already deployed or secured contracts for over 11,000 electric buses, supported by what it claims to be the world’s largest dedicated electric bus manufacturing facility outside China, located in India. This facility boasts an annual production capacity of 20,000 units, ensuring scalability for both domestic and global demand.

Driving Toward a Net Zero Future

Over the past five years, JBM’s electric buses have collectively travelled 200 million electric kilometres, carried over 1 billion passengers, and helped avoid more than 1 billion kilograms of CO2 emissions. The company’s Net Zero by 2040 target aligns with global climate goals and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which focus on sustainable cities, clean energy, and innovation.

The company also introduced JBM E-Verse, an integrated EV ecosystem platform encompassing fast-charging infrastructure, lithium-ion batteries, and power management systems—supporting seamless, zero-downtime fleet operations.

Arya concluded, “Our vision is to redefine mobility by integrating technology, sustainability, and scalability. The ECOLIFE e12 marks another stride in that direction.”
