Valvoline Cummins India Launches Country’s First Full Synthetic CK-4 Engine Oil

In a significant development for India’s commercial vehicle sector, Valvoline Cummins India has rolled out the country’s first full synthetic CK-4 engine oil, designed to meet the needs of modern heavy-duty diesel engines compliant with BSVI emission standards.

The newly introduced All Fleet Full Synthetic CK-4 is being positioned as a game-changer for fleet operators and logistics companies looking for higher performance, longer service intervals, and stronger engine protection in challenging Indian road and climate conditions.

Advanced Features for Next-Generation Engines

According to the company, the synthetic oil offers 60% cleaner piston performance and 60% better wear protection compared to conventional CK-4 oils currently available in the Indian market. It has been engineered with a high viscosity index, ensuring consistent lubrication across a wide temperature range—from harsh summers to extreme cold weather conditions.

The oil also promises extended drain intervals, which could help transport fleets minimize downtime and reduce maintenance costs. Additionally, the formulation provides improved oxidation control, lower volatility for reduced oil consumption, and better low-temperature properties to aid cold starts.

Crucially, the new oil is backward compatible with BSIV engines, allowing fleet owners to deploy a single lubricant solution across mixed-vehicle fleets, enhancing efficiency.

Commitment to Innovation

Speaking at the launch, Sandeep Kalia, Managing Director, Valvoline Cummins Pvt. Ltd., highlighted India’s importance as a growth market for the company.

“The introduction of Valvoline CK-4 Full Synthetic, the first of its kind in India, underscores our commitment to innovation built around real-world performance. Designed for demanding operating conditions, it helps fleets achieve cleaner engines, longer drain intervals, and stronger wear protection—ultimately driving efficiency and reducing downtime.”

The new oil is also designed to work seamlessly with advanced after-treatment systems such as EGR, DPF, SCR, and DOC, thanks to its low-SAPS formulation.

Strengthening India’s Commercial Vehicle Ecosystem

Valvoline Cummins, a 50:50 joint venture between Valvoline Global Operations and Cummins India Ltd., has a long legacy in engine lubrication. Globally, Valvoline is credited with launching the world’s first trademarked engine oil brand over 150 years ago.

With India’s commercial vehicle industry undergoing rapid transformation due to stricter emission norms and increasing demand for high-performance lubricants, this launch marks a strategic step in supporting fleets as they adapt to evolving technologies and regulatory requirements.

The new All Fleet Full Synthetic CK-4 is now available across Valvoline’s nationwide distribution network, including authorized dealers, fleet workshops, and CV service centers.
