CEAT Rolls Out Rockrad Radial Tyres for Tough Mining Terrains

CEAT has taken a big step into the mining world with the launch of Rockrad, its very first radial tyre built to handle some of the harshest conditions on earth. Designed for the heavy demands of mining trucks, Rockrad combines strength, grip, and long life—qualities that matter when the road is anything but smooth.
Before hitting the market, Rockrad went through months of tough testing, from the iron-rich mines of Barbil in Odisha to rugged sites in Indonesia. The result is a tyre made to last longer, keep its grip on unpredictable ground, and carry heavy loads without giving in to wear and tear. It’s also a sign that radial technology is starting to make its way into the mining sector, which has mostly relied on older bias-ply tyres.
Its secret lies in details like the S-Type tread pattern for better traction and even pressure distribution, and a specially formulated sidewall compound that resists cuts while staying flexible. CEAT’s in-house trials found Rockrad to have around 7% better bead durability than close competitors, plus improved heat control and structural strength.
The first size to hit the market will be 11.00R20, with distribution planned for mining hubs across Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. And because the tyre lasts longer, it also means less waste—supporting CEAT’s goal of building more sustainable transport solutions.
With Rockrad, CEAT is sending a clear message: it’s ready to take on the toughest roads, and it’s here to help mining operators keep moving, no matter the terrain.
